Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
I wanted to do a Bergepanther with a Panzer IV turret but realized it was a different version than the G.
So I used 21st's Panther, here are a few pics
Some more pics after work.

There was a Bergepanther bassd on the Ausf G. The vehicle you built, however, had a fixed turret.

Re: Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
I'd been looking a this pic of a Panther D and thought it had the fixed turret.
I guess mine is a what if Panther G with a Panzer IV turret. As if the Panther was salvaged without the damaged turret...
...and the Panzer IV turret recovered.
I know the turret ring size differed on the two tanks but with a little imagination a machinist
could fabricate a new turret ring.
Before turret was painted...
I may put Schürzen (side armor) on the tank, like the one in the first pic. just having some fun with this project.
More to come....

Re: Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
Yes, they could have machined a new ring, but this was just a bizarre one-off done in the field so the gear necessary wasn't available. They had to secure it into place and obviously facing forward was the most useful position.
Dragon actually makes a kit of the vehicle.I guess it didn't sell too well as it is almost on sale on their U.S. web site.

Re: Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
Thanks Mutt71. I've made some individual sections of side armor...
using Evergreen's sheet styrene and 5/32" angle I made a jig which helped speed up the process and keep measurements somewhat constant.
This spacer is used to keep the angles the right distance from each other and when dry they slide on to the side of the Panther.

Normandy, That is some really sweet work1 The jig. Looks like you could set up a production line for the Schurzen panels. Do you have other Panthers in addition to this one I'm willing to bet that you do.
A little bit off subject, but, I am very interested in the buildings that you use for the background. Would you be willing to share any info on them? Or, did you already? I have some experience inn building 1/6 scale buildings such as a Farmhouse, Barn, etc. I ask because I don't have any measurements from years ago when I made them in 1/6.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
I have something like 16 Panthers, 6 are still in original paint / camo scheme the others are customs;
so I'm not going into production just need side armor for a couple of the customs.
The two buildings...one on the left is the 21st century toys Normandy Farmhouse and the other is
one I made. The second was an experiment using wood and foam board. I'll post some pics and
measurements in another topic.

Re: Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
Thank you Normandy! I look forward to seeing that future post.
16 Panthers? WOW! I don't even have one yet. I see a lot of them for sale and will have to pick up one, or more when I can.
For now, I am still doing the Sherman Conversions that I can afford to do. My next one will be the M-10 from Pickelhaube.

Hey, here's the 1/35 kit by Dragon of Normandy's build:

Looks like it's not on sale right now. And it really needs to be at the price they ask.

Re: Panther G with Panzer IV Turret
Thanks Pickel, I only had one set of your side armor so I needed to make a second.
I thought individual sections would look cool.
