I know the one is the Bunker Hill, but is the other the George Bush Paint scheme?

Glad to finally see some pictures of the finished product and hopefully it will not be too long before they are available here in the USA. Looks to have better weathering than the 21c planes did and they come with the crew figures and all the ordinance. But the photos show they did not solve the wing-sag problem

I like the Midway Avenger but the Bunker Hill one is practically a repaint of the 21c version just with different numbers. It will likely take down the value of that plane... I heard somewhere they were going to make President Bush Sr's Avenger as well.

And FYI - Flight Wing was one of those companies that got a hold of some of 21c's old aircraft toolings. They have previously released a series of P-51Ds and Mig-15s here in the USA that many retailers still have in stock. The models are identical to the 21c planes, come with the same figures and accessories, and had generally better paint applications, weathering, and quality control. They did cost a bit more, so the high prices perhaps are what we should expect if they become available here...

But again, good to see these actually exist!

Like I said in my previous reply I do not think that price is right that is someone trying to catch suckers with what looks like a decent price but then tacking on ridiculous shipping prices

If you remember the original Mustangs sold for $39.99 and the original price on the avengers was $69.99. So if the Avengers make it to your local Hobby shop they could be $30. more or twice the price of the latest Mustang releases($100.) Just guessing.

Flying Mule has the Bunker Hill version up for pre-order for $219; Aikens has the Bunker Hill version too, along with the George Bush version for $198. The Bush version is said to be an Aikens exclusive.

Curiously no one is showing the Midway version, unless that is another retailer's exclusive. Production numbers of each type seem limited to under 500. I am going to preorder the Bush Avenger from Aikens as I have the 21c Bunker Hill Avenger still in good shape. Been waiting for the Bush Avenger for about a decade.

Question for when you preordered... Did clicking the button go to an online form where you basically sent Aikens an email expressing interest in preordering the Avenger or did it go to an actual ordering page? Mine went to the email form, but I've not heard back from Aikens just yet. That is assuming I'm supposed to hear back in short order.

As in a few other 21st C planes, the gear leg is molded toy-like into the gear door instead of a separate piece like they should be giving the skinny look. The worst is probably the 190D. The old 109E and G likewise have that. The Spits have it too but it's less noticeable.

I don't get where anyone is getting that the one is marked as a George W Bush Avenger. The only proof of markings I found so far is the X2 tail markings of the one he was shot down in, and that they were named Barbara I Barbara II and Barbara III.

Does anyone have any have any specific information on the markings this one has being something he flew?

IIRC X2 is the one he was flying when shot down and it was Barbara III

Already have the Bunker Hill Avenger so I'm good there. Always wanted a Midway Avenger though. The light blue looks a little more like a baby blue than the actual color used. Like to see a production model. Not likely they would re-tool this as a TBF-1 with the 30 cal cowling mounted gun, but other manus have made this mistake like Hobby Master's 1:72 die cast version. Didn't stop me from buying one though.


It would be cool to have the only surviving TBF-1 from Midway battle damaged version, the turret all shot up, the second crewman didn't survive, a bloddy mess from what I understand, so maybe not such a good idea. I've seen some custom models done this way though.

The George Bush looks bueno, but good grief damn expensive. Maybe someone down the road will be looking for an Atlantic and do some horse tradin'

This is starting to feel like 2006 again (when 21c first released their Avengers) save this time I'm NOT having to deal with that crappy Walmart distribution

Anyone read this about the light colored one that is supposed to be George W Bush marked, which isn't listed below anywhere.

This TBF-1, marked as 8-T-1, is the sole surviving aircraft from Torpedo Squadron 8's (VT-8) attack on the Japanese fleet at the Battle of Midway on June 4, 1942. It was flown by Ensign Bert Ernest VT-8 was comprised of the older Douglas TBD Devastators, that were launched from the carrier USS Hornet, and the brand new TBF Avenger that were simultaneously launched from Midway island's airfield. This was the first battle for both the squadron crew and the TBF Avengers. The carrier USS Hornet Flying the vulnerable Douglas TBD Devastators, Commander John C. Waldron's 15 planes were all shot down during their unescorted torpedo attack on four Japanese aircraft carriers.

I already have the 21st Century 1/18 Bunker Hill Avenger and also the Hobby Master 1/72 Bush Avenger (with the 3X on the tail), but the 1/18 version with the Bush pilot figure and 2X on the tail makes it appealing.
