A Zero for Fathers Day

Post by Jnewboy » Tue May 31, 2016 9:03 pm

A week ago I stopped all other projects and pulled out an old Green BBi Zero and went to work on it for my dad to give him for fathers day. It is actually very easy, first paint a grey net like camo over the top then go back over it with Tamiya IJN dark green on the spots so it appears that the Green is painted onto the grey. Then some flat aluminum and a steady hand makes quick work of the chipping and prop. The exhaust is done with a fat rust brown shade followed by a thinner smoky black followed by a thin light grey. Then over the whole thing is my own Magic Grime weathering compound that I sell on eBay. I will do a separate post about how to use it someday I have time. Its very easy, just scrub it on and wipe off in the direction of gravity for armor of airflow for aircraft.

Happy Fathers Day! :D

Great job Jon!
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

Thanks Guys! He picked it up today and loved it! He was going to hang it but he said the details on it make him want to display it. I'm glad hes happy, he is the one who got me into models when I was a boy and latter when as an adult I surpassed his abilities and he has always been proud of me and my quality of work. Hope you all have a great Fathers Day!
