want a A4 Skyhawk in 1/18

Post by Aviatornut.com » Sun Sep 13, 2015 7:38 pm

Love the size of the Harrier and think an A4 Skyhawk would go well with it.
Five reasons an A4 is the logical build
1.Multiple Nation used
2. Many different models build
3. great size
4. Ton of great paint schemes
5. Can carry many different weapons or payload

I'm actually surprised Merit/JSI didn't elect to do an A-4. According to what I heard, Merit went with the Harrier because it was basically a mid-sized jet that could be produced easily. I was thinking while un-boxing the Harrier that an A-4 would be so doable. It would get us a jet widely used in the Vietnam War without the potential cost and size of an F-4 Phantom. I agree there's tons of repaint and variations that could be done with the Skyhawk.

Surprisingly, I've always had a fondness for the A-6 Intruder ever since the movie Flight of the Intruder came out.

Sorry for the above post. I realize this thread is about the Skyhawk but just couldn't resist sharing. Maybe another thread post is in order.

I would go for two A-4's they were considered Hot Rods. I can picture Maverick and Goose trying to chase down Jester and Viper. Or two fully loaded A-4's getting ready to launch off a carrier deck on an attack mission into Vietnam.

Whoh, I had no idea that the blue angels used F14's!

I'd be very interested in a 1/18 A-4.

actually the bottom camo is for avoiding the "blink" effect when the jet is manoeuvring agressively near the ground (during turns the bottom is clearly visisble)

Oh yes, I thought that people in New Zeeland have heads upside down, so the underside camo is not a nonsense

Is Merit looking at doing an A4? That was next on list after I wrapped up the Ta183. I am sure they could do better quality than a garage kit.

I recall a discussion on that years ago. I don't believe it's in the works. When Merit had their forum they were discussing the A1 Skyraider and the F4 Phantom as possibilities depending on how the Harrier sales go. Pizzaguy in my opinion, " if you build it, they will come."
