I think the Conformal tanks give the F-16 a more muscular look. The F-18 Conformal tanks are nice but I believe they were installed on later F-18 Super Hornets. I would like to have something a little different. By all appearances it looks to be an easy conversion for someone who has a little modeling experience.
I like this one.

I believed it was a great idea. An easy conversion for those who wanted something different for an F-16. Great idea for a foreign version.

Think those conformal tanks are a great idea Matthew.
Definitely gives the Viper a different look.
My modelling days are long over, so if they were already painted, I would definitely be interested. For the "standard" BBI F-16, simply two different shades of grey.
An enthusiastic YES from me.

So it looks like 5 guys have interest.
For those guys who are on the fence I am thinking around $35 and for you all who would want them ( matched ) custom painted , an additional $35.

Double the price to paint, Matthew ?
You know I am not one to complain, but does seem a little pricey, considering a couple of coats of different greys on a relatively small piece.
Still in for at least one set though.
Think this is an easy and great 1/ 18 custom, although for some reason USAF has shied away from these conformal tanks.

Have you seen the price of paint lately ?
I am sure I can not find a paint color off of the shelf to match so I need to match my own .
After sanding and priming then final painting you are looking at about a half of days work spread over 3 days.
Then the price of paint on top of that .
It is always hard to place a monetary value on labor but you are probably looking at about 4 hours worth of work .
I probably will full build about 25 % of all my projects and I usually charge the price of the kit to do so.
Almost every time I do a full build it always seem like it is not worth the time but I still do it to try and make happy customers .
I learned a hard lesson on my Horten project. I think that I originally charged $150 or so to build and paint the original batch.
Each Horten took 40 hours to build and paint @ $150 each I would have made twice the money working at Mc Donalds Hamburgers .
So I do think that twice the price of the kit if any thing , is fair my brother .

I am going to order the 1/32 resin kit .
Ok I just purchased the 1/32 kit .
I need to finish the JUMBO and Hanomag kits as well as a couple of commissions and I will start cutting plastic .

Did realize there was sanding and primer involved. Plus having to match paints too.
Thanks for the explanation of the process involved. And given that, the price does seem fair.
You know I wasn't really bitching about the price.
Put me down for a painted set. Hopefully enough people want them painted to make it worth your while.

We go too far back to have any ill will.

But there is a lot of work that goes into these things .
One of the easiest things that I make are the Pave hawk fuel booms . And are so much work to paint.
It takes about 5 mins to make and about 3-4 hours to paint. Of course not a full 3 hrs but a 3 hrs span in time.

I can attest to that. The conversion parts I bought from Pickelhaube for my M113A2 APC that I backdated to a Vietnam era M113A1 looked great, but they needed to be cleaned, puttied, sanded, cleaned again, primered, a little more putty, primer and finally two coats of paint. The whole process took half a day, and I was in a rush to do them. So they are labor extensive. In my opinion a painted set of Conformal Tanks are worth the price if you are not the type to put in the work outside of just the installation. My two cents...
