If this were Weird Science then I could get the real thing in full scale. No need for a pilot since I would just fly it myself.
I'd be using that for something else full size :)

Ordered today, lets see, that will the first 1/18 plane purchased since the Dauntless.

Depicted above is the actual harrier by Merit with the armament attached. You may even notice the gun pods underneath. Not exactly sure yet if they decided to add them on at the last minute. Still waiting on further news.

I'm playing the wait and see game. It's possible the one rep might not fully know the whole picture.

The photo above is a more recent example of the jet. Its unclear if this is an example of the final production run or the prototype. However, there are a couple of clues in the photo that lead me to believe this remains to be the same painted up prototype we've been looking at before. So there is still a chance the gun pods could be left off in the final production run. They certainly don't mention them among the product features on any of the vender sites. I guess a strong part of me just can't imagine how Merit would spend the time, effort and money adding them on the jet to showcase everyone only to do away with them later.

Also there is word the release date maybe pushed back a little to early September. I don't know if this is exactly true yet but then again I wouldn't be surprised. This is going to be a big release for Merit. Roughly five years in the making. So I'm sure they don't want to screw this one up if they can help it.

It look awesome when complete with gun pod. At price US$279, gun pod should included.

Well, the Merit website updated with the same pics that popped up on facebook awhile ago.

I'd love to see more like the one Bee posted.

Patience, I suppose.

I know....Its not all that pretty to look at but it will have to do until they give us more to share. We should be getting real close to the unveiling. Or at least I hope so.

Monkey Depot's website has their ship date as November 2015. Has this thing been delayed again?

It wouldn't surprise me, however most other retailers online have it listed for release on August 31st. There was a source I came across a few weeks back from a retailer in Europe. Supposedly they spoke with a rep at Merit who suggested a release date sometime in September. Since August is almost over with still no pictures in yet of the actual final production model other than the prototype shown. I would have to suspect a release by the middle of September maybe more likely after all. Especially, if the product hasn't left the manufacturer JS International in China which can take up to a week or two just to get here to the U.S. by container ship. That's including a thorough customs sweep by Los Angeles port authorities followed by delivery to the various retailers. So it looks like we maybe waiting a little longer unfortunately. Hopefully not too long now.

After this long, what's a few more weeks? Got to keep in mind it's the "only game in town". We're beating up the one and only source that's even attempting to mass produce ANYTHING new in 1/18 planes and anything new since their fine Dauntless. For what they are putting into these, they could have taken a safe path and produced a lot more MiG-15 repaints and 109E reruns. There should be more support and encouragement and less complaining.

With that said.....What the heck is taking so long???

Agreed. Nothing against Merit nor JSI. Just that we are all running out of patience for something too great to ignore. As Geico would put it, "Its what we do".

Totally agree Axis Nightmare.

Does seem to be taking forever though, but can see progress, so that is encouraging.

The Focke Wulf 190A and the "Hitler vids" are a whole other story though.

ETA has just changed to Sept 2015. We are still in the third quarter so the harrier remains technically on schedule despite my own impatience.

Just as long as the delay is used to good effect... I don't want the thing covered in spots! But given that September starts tomorrow, the potential release date is not that far away.

I'm not sure but the Facebook page looks like they have the holes for the gun pods. Makes me wonder why they did not include them. Still can't wait to get mine.

The holes along the bottom are for the ventral fins. No gun pods this round unfortunately. Maybe the second release will have them. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Despite no gun pods though the jet looks pretty amazing so far.

Copy that. I'm looking forward to receiving mine. I'm hoping sales of the plane go well, since this could reflect on the future of 1/18 jet aircraft.
