Hey Guys,

Maybe I wanted these more than you guys .

I need a show of hands of who will actually get the JUMBO and or Easy .

It looks like the JUMBO has died on the vine .

If there is only one or two guys who want them there is no sense in continuing either one of these projects.

Please let me know

Wow not a lot of hands :?

I have finished the side armor and have modified the front a big to make the tranny case look beefier.

I will try to get picks up this weekend .

I need a few more guys to step up or this project and the Easy 8 will have to go back onto the idea list.

Sorry I didn't see the request for show of hands. I want both the Jumbo and the easy eight.

I want both, but if I had to make a choice between the two it would definitely be the Easy-8! I've wanted one ever since I started collecting 1/18 scale.

Well so far only five guys have said that they actually wanted them.

So at this time it seems that I have wasted my time on this project .

:? :? :?

On another forum another guys has spoken up and wants to pay $65 for the kit .

That only will pay for the turret .

I need to cast close to 200 of those tiny track duckbills alone.

Understood, I may have to break my own rule and look at the Hind. Let us know if things change.

One of the guys who have backed off is back on board with the JUMBO . That makes 6 guys

Normally I will go with 10 guys or sells before I will go through with a project .

If I have one more sale making a total of 7 , I will go ahead and do his thing !!

:D :D :D

When I get ready to start on the next WW2 project it will either be the 105 Howitzer or the Easy 8.

When that time comes I will put another poll up and that will tell me and you all what will be next.

If I get 10 guys to confirm they will buy it ( the winner of the poll ) I will make it .

Looks like more interest into the calliope. :?

The only thing holding me back from working on the calliope are the tubes .

I can get them to scale ( or close to scale ) BUT THERE WOULD BE MANY OF THEM .

Each set has about 30 of them if I sell 10 of them I would have to cut 300 and more kits sold I would have to more and more .

So I was thinking of maybe casting the tubes and making them solid and that would look goofy . The I was thinking of maybe making the front of the tubes from the front bracket forward but then I will be back to making MANY tubes but just smaller .

I could supply the tubes and have you guys cut them yourselves but that kind of goes against making a kit ready to go.

What to do ?

How about commissioning someone to cut the tubes to length based on the order. Say 20 orders at a time so you have them cut 600 tubes ( 20 orders at 30 tubes per order) and pass on the labor cost to the consumer. I did a project for my son's high school way back when I was on the football boosters and I needed 1700 pieces of metal cut to 4 1/2 inches. The guy at the metal shop charged me for 2000 pieces at pennies per piece. Had them ready in a week and as it turned out we needed close to 2000 so it all worked out. Just a thought.

My mistake about 42 tubes

Rudy not a bad idea but I am not sure who I could get.

I am the guy in my area who has the saws to do the job .

Growing up my dad would often ask me and my friends if we wanted to make a few bucks. He would show us what we needed to do and put us to work. Cheap labor. Like you, he had all the tools but not the time to do some of the busy work. Just a thought

I set it to the side to work on the HIND project but I have the JUMBO done complete with duck bill track ends !!!!I added the side armor and actually redid the front tranny cover . I picked it up a little making it just a little chunkier like it was.
I realize that the pics you guys have posted of the JUMBO are post war but they are truly without the duckbills so the chances of this being done during the war is a " maybe " . So maybe you can make yours with out the duck bills.

Re: Jumbo Finished Prototype ( Hopefully ) Build On Deck

Here we go .

JUMBO kit prices .

JUMBO parts kit------------------------------------Jumbo built kit

Turret ---- -$70------------------------------------Turret ----------$70
Hull parts- $45 --------------------------------------Built hull----- $90
Duckbills-- $15------------------------Built tracks w/ duckbills--- $ 50-$75
Shipping-- $15-----------------------------------------shipping--- $15
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total
------------$145----------------------------------------------------$225-$250

It will take about an hour to cut up the FOV Sherman and graft on the parts .

The duckbill tabs take about 4 hours to clean up and mount on the tracks . For $15 it just could be worth the effort to do it yourselves . If not I need to know how many of you would want the built up tracks . Years ago I got some resin that kind of acted like rubber so maybe I can go that way if there is a call for the tracks .

Also the FOV tracks are 2 pieces each and they interlock on the backside of the treads so ( if there is need ) I will make my rendition the same way.

All you guys who have ordered the Jumbo please PM to confirm your orders.

There is a good chance that I will do full track links rather than the duckbill tabs . It actually will be easier for me to cast.

I have ordered some flexable amber colored resin to cast the track lengths. The FOV tracks are actually made in 2 sections each and this is how I will cast them.

NO EXTRA CHARGE !!

This will cut out 4 hours of additional labor to build the kit.

Again please PM me to confirm your orders.
