Choose The Next WW2 Full Build ( Me-163 ?????!!!!! )

Post by pickelhaube » Sun May 03, 2015 7:32 am

I know I do way too many polls but there is always a chance that if I build they may not come so ..... as I have guessed, if you ask a group of people what they want you get 100s of wants .

This is the short list of your wants in WW2. Of all the planes on the list , that crazy Lipisch would be the easiest to build !!! So of course that would be my favorite to make.

So here is the short list . After the long list of mods that is in front of it , the winner will be made aprx price $250-$350 depending on what wins.

Lipisch
Natter
He-162
Do-335
P-39
Macchi-202
Trop Spitfire

The winner of this list WILL BE BUILT . If there are 2 close at the top there will be a runoff.

I will buy any of these that were built except for the Tropical Spitfire.

Would I love a Do-335 Hell YES! but is it insane in 1/18? maybe....

But if its not then why not throw in other similar size highly coveted aircraft like the Me-110 or B-25 or my all time favorite the He-219!

The Do-335 may win and if it does I will buy one! But for the money some members may perfer other planes that are just as large.

I would still buy one but I think the price and the size would make it a small seller.

The P-39 gets my vote as we have nothing Russian yet.

My top favorites are the He 162 and Do 335, with the Natter and P-39 very close second; in the end, I voted for the He 162 just to keep its chances intact, but I would be very happy with any of the four aforementioned aircraft. I don't care too much for the Lippisch P.13a - while technically interesting, it certainly wasn't one of the most realistic designs, being powered by a ramjet that was supposed to run on powderized coal. If you want a fairly easy to build Luft46 machine, the Horten H.XIIIb would be much more interesting, IMHO...

Went for the He 162.

Small, relatively easy, and a proper Luftwaffe jet fighter. 8)

Do 335 would be great as well, but it would be big, and more complex than He 162.

All good choices Matthew, and can see the votes reflect this so far.

Well I finally talked to someone in the know and yes there will be a Me-163 .

That's the good news the so-so news is that it will take about 2 years.

It took that long to get the Avenger and the 3 year wait for the Fw-190 is hopefully getting shorter.

So yes Virginia there will be a Me-163 in the near 2 year future !!!

 Two years.....why not produce it while there is still demand for it.
Small enough in 1:18 to have multiples and numerous paint schemes to choose from. :)

Two years?

My buddy Tom Edwards is working on the 335 as we speak . He is also working on the 162 but I am not sure how far he is on it. I will talk to him today on the subject.

The manufactuer of the 163 is having succes with other projects they have on the market and as I stated before they are in no hurry to get it out . But they are deffinately getting it out.

Sorry guys I am using my son's lap top and do not know how to use the spell check.

Back to the 162 , after I talk to Tom I could possibly know what place in order it will fall into it being built.

So far this is the order and while all of this is being done , work will continue on the Hind !!!!!!

Humvee project winding down
Jagdpanther ( halted due to injury ) main box mold done
Backdated Sdkfz 251
105 Howitzer

Those projects are are close to being done ( prototypes )
The next list are projects that are high in popularity and popularity will dictate when they will be built !!!

HUMVEE ambulance body ?
Huey extended D body ?
Black Hawk DAP package ?
Huey Vietnam ordinance package ?

I forgot the P-36 that will deffinatley be in te mix !!

I talked to Tom and he gave me the green light for the He-162 he did some work via a 3-d printer and he is unhappy with the results .

So it looks like the He-162 is a go after I do a final poll with the top 3 winners .

OF COURSE THIS PROJECT WILL BE AFTER THE HIND PROJECT !!!

Jackson! good to hear from you my friend! Hope all is well and the water is still on out there in Vegas! Is lake Mead dry yet?

This year I hope to put some of those beautiful decals you have made me over the years to good use and get some kits done!

Yea Hartmann seemed to know how to take out each type of aircraft, he even shot down several mustangs, in interviews he discribes taking out il-2 Sturmoviks with the first pass which some pilots would run out of ammo first as it was so well armored. The P-39 was a great plane though that could dish out alot of damage on the ground with that nose cannon!
