Pickelhaubes Custom Updates ( Good News ??? )

Post by pickelhaube » Sat Nov 01, 2014 6:22 am

Hey Guys ,

Not a lot of things have been happening in the 1/18th world except waiting and hoping.

I am totally burnt out on the Tiger II / Jagdtiger series but am I finally getting caught up with it.

The last full build ( painted ) will go out to get painted on Monday and then I have 3 more ( 1 King Tiger 2 Jagdtigers ) then I will be done with the project )

I have spent a few hours on the HUMVEE and Jagdpanther projects and have nothing to show for it so far :?

But I did get my 1/35 models in to use as scalemasters .

The one good thing that I am excited about is that I have been working with a NEW 3D printer / plotter guy who has started a new project for me.

He has plotted some of the more difficult parts of the project and we are close to getting them printed.

Not to sound like the big maunfacters in the past but I have to wait to see if I have all of my ducks in a row before I let the cat out of the bag.

So in about a month all of my old obligatione should be wrapped up and I will announce what my new project will be and hopefully by that time we will have something to show !!!

So 1/18th is not dead and things are happing behind closed doors.

:D :D :D

I'll be starting Your Jagdtiger kit within the week, had some renovations done on the house
which took up time and space (my shop  ) .

Looking forward to your 1:18 announcement!!

Not sure but my new project will be modern.

With my new semi retirement going on it seems like I am working more . I do have more installs going on but I am acting as an overseeier . Which meens I am going from job to job which is something that I did not used to do.

So I am regulated to weekend work.

So I am in the process of brining in a caster to ease my workload ( for the toys )

By being a one horse operation if I am building prototypes I am not making molds or casting.

If I am making molds and casting I am not making prototypes . That is why a project gets bumped or takes so long to get out . So if I can pass the proto off I can continue making new stuff .

I do have a few projects that are almost done but got bumped for some reason or not. NOT INCLUDING THE HUMVEE OR JAGDPANTHER

Sdkfz 251 back date prototype --95 % done
Jumbo Sherman prototype--------Turret 95% front glacias 50 %
105 Howitzer prototype------------85 %

Wow close to a year since my last update .

As far as my accident goes I talked to the doctor Friday and I have opted NOT to have the operation. The wrist bones in my hand have separated , but the Doc said that if he goes in and pins / screws them together there could be a strong possibility that they may separate in the future. He said the operation would be a coin toss if it works or not.

He would have to go in pin things together , I would be laid up for another 6-8 weeks then he would have to go back in and remove the pins.

I am not going through with it .

So....

I am going to put the Hind on hold for just a bit and get back on my back orders.

Stuart

I have one of your HUMVEE kits all painted and ready to mount . Your other set has been primed painted .

Sravuth

Your parts have been primed

Jared

I need to make the tracks for the Tiger II and some small parts and I also need to make the Stuka cannons.Everything else is done.

Sven

I also need to make your Tracks for the Tiger II and small parts .

Corey D

Your side car has been ready for some time now except one small part that goes on the machine gun post. The mold gave up on that part and I need to remake it . I will remake it as I make the molds for the Sdkfz 251.

Thank you all for the payments on the Sdkfz 251 I will start to make the molds for it in between painting the HUMVEE parts .

I still need to remake the light holders on the fenders

I think that covers everybody

Hey Guys thanks for the well wishing.

Things are slowly moving along. Today or tomorrow I should be done with my last 2 HUMVEE full builds .
Then it is time for the mold making of the Sdkfz 251 and JUMBO projects .

As the resin is flowing I will finish Jared and Sven's back orders .

While working on the Hind I will get back on the Howitzer after the 251 and JUMBO orders have been filled.

As far as the Hind goes I am waiting for Jay to finish up plotting the landing gear. Then I will send the gear out to a metal spin caster so he can make copies in metal to hold this big beast up .

Dragon,

Jay is the 3-d plotter and he sends off the scan to Shapeways.

As far as the material goes the Shapeways plastic is VERY BRITTLE .

The resin I use is not as brittle but I am sure will not hold up the Hind 's weight.

I was thinking of casting brass into the gear but hopefully the casting of the gear in metal will work out better.

In time and price.
