Nothing at all. It was all Hitler's fault. jk

Honestly though if Merit plans to use this new site as a staging ground for new information as it comes in then members here may like to know.

This doesn't seem like a slap in the face to you guys? I mean they were posting on here regularly to let us know of news and info, one funny video later and they have there own forum and a facebook page of negativity towards a Hitler video.

Besides that one act (which I thought was funny) every member here has been supportive of everything they do and now they go and establish a copy of who we are.

Whatever I guess.

That is an interesting development.

On one hand I get it, and hopefully they use it to get some feedback and ideas.

All manufacturers could and should take a look at the way Hobby Master do business. They have fantastic customer support, and listen to collectors ideas. Of course emails have to be constructive, and detailed, and not just " An A-10 would be cool". Kind of have to lay out a good arguement and sugestions on schemes, models etc.

Wish Jim and Merit success with this.

Anyone else here think an F-4 Phantom would be awesome in 1/18 since my dad greyghost531 was a plane captain I've always shared his love of old smokey the cult following would make it a must have of all the variants

There is a reason Hasbro doesn't hang out at forums actively speaking and joining in. It's because inevitably they'll take crap for things, or they'll simply be pestered till the end of time without anything productive coming out of it. If they say X, collectors will complain it's not Y. If they announce Y, they complain it doesn't have X.

It's nature of the beast.

It's also nature of the beast that they, as professionals, have to not be butthurt when someone says something negative. They have to accept that not everything they make is golden to everyone. Not everything is popular to everyone. If criticism hurts, being in collectible production is so far off your mark psychologically that I can't imagine you can get through a day without shedding a tear.

I frankly see it as disappointing, if they're essentially abandoning THIS community for their own... Not sure that's the case, but it's sad if it is. You're further ahead keeping your "news" to official press releases, and staying off forums on the internet. Trust me, there is a reason most manufacturers DON'T engage their "fans" publicly. They do it through the admin willing to put up with the daily BS of a collecting community, and even then they're usually nauseated by half the admin they deal with (I won't name names, butttttttt, I could).

FFS those Hitler Videos aren't even new... They're (no offense here jnewboy) very old and unoriginal. It's like planking! It's like letting a LOLcat meme about you hurt your feelings. As an equally old meme once said, "Hi, and welcome to last week".

Hopefully that's not what this situation is. However, given what was released recently on I believe their Facebook, I think it is, and I find that kinda lame... we'll go with lame.

That said, I'm anxious to see anything Merit rolls out, but I'm fine not hearing it anywhere but a press release if it keeps tensions to a minimum. Good lord.

I tough Merit decided to not produce any more 1/18 when they mention the nail on the coffin comment.
I hope the website is mostly 1/18 scale. And i hope they concentrate their effort on producing new toys and the website don't distract them from that goal.
I guess what i am trying to say is that we need new toys that we don't have,
not another website that we already have.

Meh, if they don't get someone with mod powers in there fairly soon, what little discussion that has been started will be buried under the tide of spambots.

I sent a PM to one of the forum Adnins this morning about the off topic spam. If they're serious about
the hobby they should police the site, otherwise its a waste of everyone's time.

Why do that when they'll ultimately start asking you guys to, for them? :) Of course, I have no faith they'll actively look into software fixes/upgrades to reduce spam... They'll count on volunteers to just keep up with bailing the water out of the lifeboat.

Didn't like the idea at the onset, and still don't.

It's an inevitability on any forum... the prob is keeping up on it, and how they circumvent filters. It's an ever-evolving thing.

Silly to pay real money and labor to do something yourself when someone else is doing it for free.
