Welcome to the board!!

I believe Threetouchtrucks and digger are both from your neck of the woods. They should be able to give you some good sources. There is also lightning2000 and fuddmeister....

Check your local Toys R' US and Walmarts. They should have a continuing stock of 1:18 military vehicles and airplanes. Also, check on-line places like Bad cat toys. They also are in the business.

Again, welcome to the board and we look forward to your participation!!

The problem online is the prices,
A tank at wal-mart is $20
internet is lowest $50

I want a Panther!

Hehehehehe... welcome to the hobby. I buy on-line when I know I can't get a plane or vehicle otherwise, all of the bbi airplanes and tanks are a good example. It's all part of the hunt to find the good stuff.

I'm hoping that the Panther gets released at some point. It would make sense to re-release it, IMHO.

where to buy

I want a Panther!
 I don't blame you, it is very cool, but it has not been in retail stores in about 4 years. The last two versions have only been online/small retailer. But don't worry, it was never $20. As a matter of fact the German tanks have always been at least $39 even at WM.

The best deal online is the bbi Sherman for under 30 bucks - an absolute steal imo. After that I would say cruise ebay for some cheap armor or drop me a PM and we'll talk.

Oh, and welcome. :P

Moth:

I'm afraid Toys R Us as a source for 1/18 except BBI is gone. In the real old TRU stores, like the ones in "the old country" (Brooklyn) you can find a few old pieces of 21C. I have found 1/18 21C Command Cars at super clearance prices, but that's hit or miss and you really have to hunt around in the old TRU's which doing so is like a treasure hunt.

Wallyworld is our retail source and thanks to various union members, Wally keeps getting shot down every time they want to open a store in NYC (including Bklyn). Wally is still trying for two stores here on Staten Island and chances are only fair that they will get to open at least one store on my island.

The two Wallys near us are Perth Amboy (The Outerbridge Crossing) and Linden (the Gothels Bridge), in Jersey but only the Linden store carries 1/18 stuff once in a while. Neither stocks 1/18 on a regular basis. If you get sucked into the "dark side" of 21C collecting (1/6), both stores carry some but not alot, like the new R/C Humvee, but at regular $200 price.

You will find on this board a great bunch of guys, including a couple from here in the city who will help you out in your hunts for 21C stuff.

Welcome,

Digger:

I have a BBI Sherman listed now on eBay and the only bidder I have now is for my opening bid $9.99. A couple of "watchers" but only a day left. I guess I have a few guys who will bid at the last miniue (like me).

If it goes for near the opening price, it will be a steal.

Super price, will all the extras.

Good question! The answer is no. Giving new guys weapons is the quickest way to a lawsuit! ;)
