1/18 Jagdpanther 2x Reject Kits For Sale

Post by pickelhaube » Mon Jul 28, 2014 5:14 am

Alright guys,

I have decided what I am going to build after the Jagdtiger project.

HUMVEE update kit
Jagdpanther mod.

I plan to alter my HUMVEE turret into the next phased glass panel version . I will also do the up armed kit . Doors bumper and other parts

As far as the Jagdpanther is concerned . The Hun and I worked hand in hand with that project and when it was done he took it over.

Well now I am taking it over . I intend to take it to the next level and hopefully make it more modeler friendly.

I have most of the original parts of the build and I need to tweak them just a bit.

Hopefully I will be able to get started in about 3 weeks.

Hopefully by then I will be done with the Jagdtiger.

My main focus will be on mods for now. Full builds just take too much time to do and they do tend to be a little pricey.

My next projects will be:

Blackhawk DAP kit
Sdkfz 251 backdate kit.

I am not sure as of yet.

Those big moulds are hard to handle and deal with.

I have 2 options that I am pondering.

1. Option--The full hull with the long fender detached ( it will be included in the kit )

2. Option ---The fighting compartment in full with front glacias . It will be cut off right behind the back wall with long fender detached.

You will need a panther of course to do this kit and the rear deck you will have already .

Just cut it off and glue it on.

I will make aligning tabs on the fighting box to align with the rear deck.

By making the box without the rear deck will cut down on the cost quite a bit.

Does anybody remember what the Hun charged originally for his Jagdpanther kit ?

I think it was about $150-$175 ,.

I am trying to be cheaper than that.

What do you guys think about the hull options ?

I JUST WANT TO DO ONE OF THE OPTIONS. :D :D :D

I could have this option.

Make the fighting box separate and have the rear deck casted as an additional part that way you could have both options.

But I will have to make a poll on that because if only one guy needs the rear hull it would take too much effort / money to cast only one rear hull.

It would be cheaper just to sell him an original hull .

I just found out the Hun charged $195 for his fighting box.

I am going to be less than that and there will be less work for you modelers to do.

Hi Matthew; Is there a picture of the updates you plan for the Hummer? I'm very satisfied with the turret and shield I got from you but would be interested in the bumper and other mods. Good luck with all this stuff. Bob

How about some of these.

The mine roller looks to be a little intricate , but if a bunch of guys want it ( 10 ) I will make it .

:D

Each of these items are on sale at e-bay in 1/35 scale .
If anybody is interested in them and if somebody were to buy the item ( 1/35th kit ) and send it to me.
I will deduct that price off of the subject's 1/18th kit.

Re: HUMVEE Upgrade & Jagdpanther to Start After the Jagdtige

Post by pickelhaube » Sun Aug 03, 2014 11:29 am

Believe it or not I have actually started on the HUMVEE project.

I have copied the front of ( made a mould ) the BBI grill so I can make a mod for the front of the 21st Humvee.

I am not sure why they ( 21st ) made the grill the way they did but I will be making the correct grill add on to bring it up to par.

Also,

I have ordered a HUMVEE upgraded model kit from China so I can have something to scale off of , to make the new turret with bullet proof glass panels .

I was originally planning to make the new upgraded turret from my first issue turret , but after looking at some pics the dimensions look to be a bit larger than my original. ( My original turret was scaled off of a brass acid etched kit )

I am not sure of the sizes being different so that is why I ordered the model kit.

I strive to make all of my projects as close to scale as I can , and acquiring models and scale plans is the only way to go.

The model kit also has the up armored doors and panels and I will make those mod kits as well.

So hopefully we can hold back the ole doom and gloom feeling that our 1/18th scale is dying.

:D :D :D

BTW

Is there anybody interested in the HUMVEE mine plow ?

Are you talking about just the plain armor plate on the doors ?

That would be easy.

I'm not a Humvee specialist at all, and even haven't seen any of the real thing. But what I can see on pics from Irak and Afghanistan are a lot of different design of armoured turret and door protection. More than 4 of each??? And how many combinations between both???
I've just made the simplest front plate and support for the grenade launcher and the .50 MG with brass plate and tubes, would be happy with even the most simple door protection and the 1st turret (Hillbilly?). Have 2 or 3 BBI Humvees to tweek, but have not the skill for solding or material like resin to do it.
So, if Pickel or somebody else could make a serie... And if a Veteran could show pics and explain. I think that all these variants are from different periods and trials from different factories, finally, there has been more than 20 years of experience...

Matthew I have a number of models coming up and are trying to get an idea of what order in which to get them done, and was just wondering how long it might be roughly before you are at a stage where the Jagdpanther kit could be ready?

At this point it is hard to say. But it will be at least a month off.
