Admiral Toys Zero?

Post by digger » Fri Dec 02, 2005 6:47 am

I started a new thread because this is not a question for Jason. I want to know what you guys think their second 1:18 warbird will be?

This is the quote from Jason:
"The only reason I have been given permission is that it will be an overlap aircraft. In other words, another company has already produced it. As I explained, it takes months for development and we were well into development when it was released by another company. Ours does have a few things different about it, so I think you will be pleased."
Seems to me the only thing possible is a Zero. The 104 was on the table a long time, and we already had an F4 when the bbi version came out. SO, I think Zero is the only one that makes sense. :?
Next questions are about those few 'different things.' Folding wings maybe? Engine access  I may be getting ahead of myself but would love to hear others speculate. :P

Probably a P-51. :? Hey, we don't have 10 repaints of P-38's yet :) !

I bet it's a zero, especially if they have been monitoring the group at all with all the clamouring for a Zero.

A "Kate" would be nice. A "Betty" would probably be too big.

I too think it's a Zero. But I'm hoping it's something different.

I have the official word from Jason. It is indeed going to be an A6M2 Zero. Good guessing to all who guessed it right (that includes me :) ).

While another overlap, this one does have folding wingtips, which should give it its own uniqueness and interest level, as compared to the BBI one. Also an opportunity for different paint schemes/markings.

Jason sent me a few unpainted prototype shots, which i'll forward to P and he can post in this thread. Jason is in China right now but will have some comments for us next week.

Thanks Andrew - and Thanks Jason for keeping us in the loop while away on business.
Well, some of the best pieces are overlaps - Killer P-51, bbi Sherman - so it could be really awesome. And to do a A6M2 you have to do PH (right?) so having two different Pearl Harbor birds that could fly together would be very cool in the same airspace. 8)

Now, if 21st makes their's, that's 3 Zeros :? You guys asked for it and boy did you get it...

Well, if 21c still makes their Zero, and that's a big if, hopefully they will do the later war version that was shown in their prototype. That would be quite useful. Sort of like having a 109G to compliment two 109E's.

Awesome news, I read Jasons email regarding the list for the 86 and he mentioned he would be having Aferg do a release about the A6M, these fellas are on their game, now if I could just be a bit more patient..lol

All three will probably make a white and a green Zero. Now I have to build a 1/18 Japanese carrier in my basement too.

Zero idea

Post by JimBob55 » Sun Dec 04, 2005 8:16 pm

With so many Zero's coming out now, let me throw out a crazy idea and see if one of the manufacturer's would run with it.

How about a slight change of the model parts and offer a A6M2-N Rufe...floatplane version?

The airplane overall and cowl in particular is the same as the BBI and Admiral versions; just eliminate the landing gear, add floats, and a little change to the tail. Then you'd have something much more than a repaint without having to do a whole new model??

Hmmmm?

Good idea JimBob . With minimal extra tooling you could have a very unique aircraft. A float plane would really throw something different into the mix.

Christmas Is Early

Post by airforcecop67 » Mon Dec 05, 2005 7:43 am

Oh happy days. That Zero is very nice, and the folding tips, WOW, icing on the cake.

Yesterday I bought an M4 complete with Aimpoint M2, 1:1 scale, and today I see this Zero. I am one happy camper.

Now if I can get a Hellcat, Ill be in heaven.

Still hoping for an OS2U Kingfisher. Cant explain it, but I always liked that bird.

Looks good! Interesting that this company has moulded prototype gear to test for clearance, fit, etc, and from all the proto photos I've seen of 21st at shows, they don't include gear but have the model sitting on a platform or riser. And I appreciate Admiral keeping us in the loop - thanks!

Partial pics

Post by eddie372 » Mon Dec 05, 2005 11:04 pm

I can only see a portion of the aircraft on each picture, but that may be just my computer. Photos look good and yes JimBob, the idea is a great one, as it would really add variety to the mix.

Lets hope the listen to us!

In order to make it so the pictures don't mess up the forum structure, it actually hides a part of the right side. You can click and drag the images to your address bar if you're using Internet Explorer and it'll display the full image. Click the back button to return.
