Got my Sherman unpacked today. Super model. Looks great next to a 1/18 Sherman. Considerably larger but both are great.

So, if you want to be picky, I guess I should have written TMP, not TMC.

The dealer is "The Motor Pool".

Sorry.

THREETOUGHTRUCKS:

TMP had my Sherman for $199.99 and $22.93 shipping, total $222.92. A great dealer to deal with.

Box was huge. I've had 1/6 tanks shipped to me in smaller boxes.... almost.

War Toys is also a great etailer. They sold me almost of my big tanks. Quick, courteous dealer.

Just got the first version of the FOV 1:16 Whitman Tiger I tank (#222) on eBay. It was displayed previously & is shipping from Canada, but is otherwise complete and in good shape. It was a fair bit cheaper than what seems to be the $700+ going rate for any of the FOV 1:16 Tiger Is :)

The Motorpool ebay sale is over----that didn't last long. Nobody bought one when the sale was on.

Was it a 10 minute sale? I checked as soon as I saw your first comment and it was gone?

THREETOUGHTRUCKS:

I saw the Motorpool/ebay 10% off sale ($179.99) around midnight Thursday. It was still there on Friday morning, so I posted it on SSHQ.
I checked a little later that morning, and it was gone. None were sold during the sale.

The FOV 1:16 Tiger I won on eBay came last night. Its very impressive! Its a shame FOV did not make the hull diecast (like on the Sherman) but I knew that going into this purchase, so it wasn't a disappointment. Actually, it gives a more correct "feel" to the zimmerit. Still, its a heavy model and full of all the detail it should be. I like the metal tracks, though the little track pieces were quite difficult to hang on the turret sides. In any event, now my old 21c Tiger Is really look like toys...

The tank I got was Whitmann's tank from the battle at Villers-Bocage (#222) and while not his famous #007 tank, still the one he used in what was perhaps his most famous battle.

The tank was priced somewhere between $150 to $200 below what most of the other FOV Tigers are going for on eBay, making it close to the original retail price. It strangely never attracted any other bidders, despite being one of the more popular of the FOV Tiger Is. Perhaps the fact that the seller was in Canada helped... So I feel like I got a decent deal on a HTF item.

But enough prattling - I'm just happy to have finally gotten one of these tanks after all this time :D
