BBI did release a loose version of their F-18 pilot last year with the new repaint of the F-18. Save for the helmet style, they work perfectly with the F-14. They are what I have in mine.

The reputable online store SmallJoes.com still has some in stock for $11.99 each: http://smalljoes.com/cat/Blue-Box-BBI-E ... l-29.shtml

I think it was Skyworks that was making unarticulated resin pilot figures in the correct uniform/equipment for the F-14 a few years ago. Those went for $30-$40 a piece, if I recall... And we all know what happened to Skyworks. The BBI F-18 pilot is your best bet.

And if you don't want to wait and have anough money, they are still some available on eBay. I think that if you're in the USA, you could find cheaper than what we can get internationnaly:

Small Joes is a good deal, grab em while you can. These are what SHOULD HAVE come with the jet.

Did BBI stop production of the new jet pilots?

Hi ,
Maybe you got your pilots already but just in case, I bought mine in a German online store.

This is the link where you can check it out.

I have a set of these as well, very well done. I suck at painting figures though so that is why I went with the "painted" versions from BBI. I just had to customize their helmets and call them done. Either way you can not go wrong.

Me too, I think the paint art was denied to me  I bought them months ago and still don't know how to start to paint them

Arpia IV,

Make sure you wash these in soapy water BEFORE you do anything. These are all resin and you have to get rid of the " release agent " that keeps them from sticking to the mold.

Good luck with them.

I would never imagine about that. Thanks Steve for the advice.
What kind of paint I should buy?

Personally I like to use Model Master / Tamiya ( lacquer based) paints. I know the acrylics are getting better but, I don't trust them. I worry about adhesion issues, at least using the lacquer based stuff I know they will " bite " into the plastic.
I would airbrush the primer coat and the base coat of Olive drab or tan, whichever flight suit your going for. The rest can be brush painted. Hope this helps.

Thanks again Steve. Now seems as I have no excuse for keeping those pilots in the closet anymore

They're made out of resin so, your gonna have to use CA ( super glue ). Good luck, post pics of the WIP.

I'll post pictures of all the process, but I will start in January. I think will be a good way to start the new year.
Thanks a lot for your advices.

Giovanni.
