First Ever 1/18th Scale Convention In PA This Weekend

Post by pickelhaube » Thu Oct 03, 2013 5:23 am

Hey Guys ,

For the first time ever there will be a 1/18th scale convention up in Pennsylvania this weekend .

It will be put on by the other popular 1/18ths scale online collectors forum

THE FIGHTING 1/18TH

The Fighting 1/18th is primarily a modern era 1/18th collecting forum .

Although they do collect ( and talk about ) all other eras of military.

If anybody will be in the PA area this weekend check them out and spread the 1/18th brotherly love :D :D :D

Pickel:

Aren't these the guys that were quick to put "flame boots" to you a few years ago?

I haven't visited their board since. They were too nasty even among themselves for my taste, at least they were.

I don't think we've put the "flame boots" (whatever those are) to Pickel at any point, we've always been appreciative of him sharing his products and designs.

And while he is right, we're a generally modern-era focused site, we have sections devoted to WWI-WWII and the Cold War. The problem is there is so few products available, they get very little attention.

We've done our best to get as much 1:18 info out there to the masses as possible. We always get the SDCC scoops from Merit when available, and are doing our best to keep the scale alive.

I appreciate that we're too "nasty" for your tastes TTT, thankfully enough people find us right up their alley :D

The convention is looking like a lot of fun.. hopefully some of you can make it. There will be a ton of games, tutorials on customs, etc. Obi-Shinobi is putting it on, and if any of you have seen his work, he does some amazing things with plastic figures.

Thanks,
The Fighting 1:18th

Awesome... Harrisburg's a hike from Pittsburgh unfortunately so I can't attend but it's really a great idea. I'll be curious to see images from the show!

Good going for the Fighting 118th :D I wish you the best in that endeavor and hope the event will grow in time! That site is a good model of what strong leadership and a committed membership can accomplish.

If SSHQ was still the force in the collecting community that it was 5-10 years ago, this would be a very good thing for us to do. Perhaps with strong leadership from the admins and support from some of the small retailers, etc. But alas, I get the sense that we're one of those communities time has passed by...

Perhaps we can organize something on the west coast, get Aviatornut and Badcat to sponsor - for the few of us out here

I am a WWII 1/18 figure collector,I wish the 1/18th success with the convention.
While modern military and fantasy military figures are still produced today in 1/18 scale,
1/18 WWII collectors are lucky to get the 1/16 tanks and vehicles from china that are close enough display with 1/18 figures. There is also pickelhaube and battle ground toys kits and plenty of 21st century toys still out there. There is already so many things to collect in 1/18 old or modern military that some of us need a hobby room for displaying the collections.
Thanks for the announcement Mathew,i only wish i was closer to assist to the convention.

I saw the set up pics before but did a good crowd show up? Anybody know. Facilities looked great, not WW2 but looking good and I'm just curious as to the number of attendees.

Hope they had a good meeting, just curious.
