WAOW ! excellent work i really like the late war camo (with so many paterns .... it looks realistic since at the end of the war parts were produced in a lot of small companies units ...)

a lot of late models FW190 or Me109 were looking liket that : superb !

you should display it between an F 86 and a mig 15 ! since both design were inspired by the germans studies ...

it would ba a kind of legacy display ...ImageImage

I have been working on another full build over the last couple months. Unfortunately, life is busier for me this time of year and I haven't got done what I would like.

Just saw this post... Thanks Nathan for all the hard work on my TA-183 thus far. Its looking fantastic! Beautiful work on the cockpit. No need to rush on your end, but still, I can't wait to see the finished product :D

It's been quite a while since my last visit to the board - this really looks absolutely amazing! My kit unfortunately arrived a few days after I left the U.S., and I won't be back for several more months to come, so I haven't been able to inspect it first hand, but I'm really looking forward to it. This really looks tremendous!!!

Nathan, Wonderful looking model! This and the Horten are the two best custom aircraft in 1:18.
Once spring sets in I plan to finish my 183's. You've done a fantastic job in creating both the
"in-flight" and the "with landing gear" kits. :salute:

Whats next?

Nathan, the TA-183 looks amazing and better than many of the prebuilt items we've gotten over the years. I'm very glad you were able to do that full build for me 8) I can't wait to see it in person, where it will become the centerpiece of my 1:18 collection right along with Pickelhaube's excellent HO-229. I'm going to need to find a place to display this. Thanks again for those months of hard work - the model is a real beauty :D

Thank You for the compliments. It's very much appreciated.

Norm, for the next project I've been eyeing the A4-E. I've got the 1/32 model and plans for reference. I guess it's a matter what would be a acceptable kit price people are willing to pay. It would probably be a 10 kit and done project. Three of those would be in my collection. I think the in flight and landing gear versions of the 183 were received well.

My personal job is in flux right now, so time is very short. If Pickle or anyone else is interested in doing an A4 project you won't hurt my feelings. I think it would be awesome see one complete.

The A-4 is on my list but not on the top .

If I were to do it , it would be about 2 years out .

I would be very interested in a A4 Skyhawk or two. Put my name on the list.

Matthew might know. But I thought they (Merit) said there was no need to produce one because there
already was one. I took that as a reference to skyjerks ME 163 Komet. :?
I also thought Pegasus was going to do one similar to their V-1 with no moving parts. Nothing
from them.
Its a great plane with plenty of paint scheme options and small enough in this scale for dioramas.

Talk of a 1:18 ME-163 Komet has been bouncing around this site for years now, I just hope
it gets made before folks stop collecting 1:18 aircraft........

I got my TA-183 model from Pizzaguy a couple days ago... In short, this is a really fantastic and beautiful model 8)

Image

Pizzaguy already posted some detail shots of my model which can be seen a few posts back, but I wanted to share some pictures of the model on display in my collection and provide some comparative shots, especially with other jets. The model is basically as it was when it left Pizzaguy's shop, save that I added an armored headrest for the pilot in the cockpit (the figure is a 21c Stuka crew member with jacket painted black).

I am very impressed with the quality of workmanship, painting, and detail that Pizzaguy put into this model. For what was basically a garage-build custom, Pizzaguy's TA-183 is on par with the best of our factory-produced 1:18 scale aircraft. The use of fiberglass for the majority of the construction was a good call as its both lightweight and feels sturdy. I really love the attention to detail all throughout the model from the crisp panel lines to the detailed cockpit with the painted gauges and switches to the interior of the landing gear bays where you can see part of the jet engine and fuselage ribbing to the accurately-reproduced X4 missiles on the wings. The use of metal for the landing gear struts and push-rods is also a great feature and I really wish companies like Merit/JSI and BBI would explore similar options with their models. Assembly of the TA-183 was a breeze as well... I had only to push the wings onto a metal spar in the fuselage, insert the missile hard-points onto the wing, and push the X4 missiles onto the hard-points. The missile are also removable so the aircraft can be displayed with a "clean" profile. The gears were all retracted in their bays and I just opened the doors, placed the hydraulic rods and it was ready to go.

Again, my hat goes off to Pizzaguy for the superb quality of this model. Its the centerpiece of my 1:18 scale WWII aircraft collection and I'm glad to have ordered one :D

Re: 1/18 FW TA-183 Huckebein Last Full Kit

Post by pizzaguy » Tue Nov 07, 2017 4:15 pm

It's been a while since I've been to this post.
I have one full kit available if anyone is interested. $200 +sh.
Money is going to fund the Me 163 project.
PM if interested. I'll wait a week then try ebay.
If you would like pics let me know. I'm not paying photobuckets ransom to get the images to view.

Supposedly there is a work-around to get the pics showing again, but as I already ended my relationship with Photobucket I can't say exactly what it is.
