News from a middle-east area

Post by granch » Wed Jul 03, 2013 3:29 pm

Bad day for an english patrol. They first got a wrong way and the road ends. Luckily, some native (pacific merchants?) can help:

Later, they have an issue in a very exposed valley. Clutch or engine overheat...

But fortunately, they will not have to stay ovrnight in this unsafe place. Satelite or Predator (not pictured...) located them, and an OH-6 found them:

Your scenes are excellent :!: Great terrain and even that one little tree adds a scale touch

Nice touch using the sand people mama. Never thought of that myself. Great job.

When I read the post, granch, I thought you had gotten mixed up somewhere in the middle east like Egypt (you know, on holiday there for a cruise down the Nile when the coup happened...) but then I saw the content of the post. Nice dioramas!

Well, tmanthegreat, I travel much more in my dreams and as overseas hollidays, I know only some big cities in the USA, and Corsica. From my point of view in Switzerland, Middle East is more in direction of Asia than Africa. But interesting, when you go east around the earth following the 30th parallel from Cairo (Egypt), you find Jordan, Irak, Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan: all countries that could give inspiration for a mixed cultural diorama, close or far from reality... tweeking figures allows something. Indiana Jone's figure modified with a 21st XD special force head sculpt and the special afghan hat makes a good compagnion for the "eastern warrior" from 21st. Schleich donkeys loaded, then where to find a veiled woman??? In Star War was the answer. Back to my 30th parallel dream: after Afghanistan, some small countries like India, China, go east, and you find my far-far-far-east: California, Houston, New Orleans, Florida! I prefer the more simple desert and mountain like scenery from the sand quarry 3 miles from my home.
