JSI F-86

Post by Jim@Merit » Thu Apr 25, 2013 5:33 pm

Dear All

Failed to point out that the landing wheel wells are all new tooling as well as the intake and exhaust covers.

Production run is small, just to allow those who missed out in the past, a chance to fill their collection.

Hi Jim. Is there any chance of getting a replacement F-86 Canopy? I have a 21st Huff with a cracked Canopy.

I am very much tempted to get one as well. I've long been a fan of the aircraft, particularly as the ANG wing in my town flew them in the 1950s and there was a North American factory that produced them at our local airport once upon a time.

JSI is obviously using the old 21c tooling with modifications. The 21c F-86 tooling was one of the best all-round designs they made, so it will be nice to have an improvement. Hopefully JSI will no overdo the weathering and put the yellow stripes all the way around the wing tips (21c did not for whatever reason).

I'm on the fence about this piece but am thinking about giving in.

Yes, the 21C F-86 is a great bird; great chance for those newer to the hobby to get one!

It'd be cool if they made a ground-attack version (strap on some rockets) to add something new for those who already have one, but of course it was the air-to-air versions that were the storied heroes of the Korean War out-shooting all those Mig-15s.

Well, here's what a few popular retailers are currently offering, not that the plane has come out yet

BadCat Toys -- $139.99 + shipping preorder special: http://www.badcattoys.com/fsajetmajjaj.html

The Flying Mule -- $139.99, free shipping: http://www.flyingmule.com/products/JS-60022

Aiken's Airplanes, Smalljoes, Military Toy Shop, TheMotorPool, Aviator Nut appeared not to have this plane listed either in their 1:18 sections or in their upcoming sections. Odd.

Jim,

Glad to see the 4th represented. Wil make a welcome addition the my 51st birds. One question.
Are the Yellow ID bands painted on the bottom of the wings?

Regards,

Mike
