Im very biased as I have no interest in the A-10 at all but it does seem logical to tackle a smaller project such as this before starting such a massive and time consuming project, especially coming off of the King Tiger builds..

Well a display crate, cradle or sled would be easiest thing to make.

I could possibly make a template sheet so the modeler could make his own out of balsa keeping the pricing down.

That could be worked out when or if the time arrives.

As far as the full build is concerned would buyers want the experimental paint jobs or production ?

If this project proves popular there would be a lot of paint schemes to be had in the experimental craft alone.

4 anyway.

Natural wood
Green with geometric shapes on the wings
Mottled camo with numbers on the wing
Over all yellow with black stripes.

Production paint schemes would probably be plentiful as well.

The imagination could run wild .

Winter
Splinter
Mottle
Desert

As I stated before RLM regulations strictly forbade national makings on disposable craft. ( like the V-1 )

But a lot of models have painted crosses on the wings but I have not seen any swaties on the rudder.

Captured Natters ( especially in the U. S. ) had painted swaties on the wings and I think that I remember seeing some painted on the rudder.

Of course I am a little fuzzy on that.

The ole memory is not what it used to be.

What say you ?

Looking at my Myrtha " Natter " book .

The swaties were indeed added to the tail rudder POST WAR .

They look to be the standard black outlined in white and the hallow center outlined in white .

Walk arounds :D

While I would order whatever you offer.....kit, pre built, painted or unpainted but if given a choice, I'll prefer a pre built in whatever pattern you are offering to make it easiest for you. Whatever paint the other guys would want.

As to the cradle, a template for me to make a cradle from balsa would be all I would need.

the paint patterns are endless,I wouldn't get caught up in the proper rules,if the war went on longer anything was able to happen at that point, strange camo, national markings, shark mouths, sloguns, you name it,anyone that buys a built one and wants it painted I would do it for $15.00 + shipping, but let do it before the A-10 :)

Can we have a Natter now? Ever think Pickel might be into WWII German?

Ok I know there are plenty of guys who have been waiting for years for the A-10. So it's
time has come and its Pickel's time frame that has to be considered.
I'd love to see an A-10 in 1:18!

You guys are funny

In all seriousness Im sure that you guys who want an A-10 will get one but you must consider what you are really asking for. This is like us WWII guys asking him to make us a B-25 or Ju-88 not to mention the ordinance. We all saw what went into the Ho229 being made and this is a larger project by far. I think he wants to make lots of XD guys happy but hes got to be questioning the project with the outcome of the A10 poll. Sure allot of us want a natter and if he sells 10 thats great! if he sells 20 even better! but if even one or two of the few guys that really want an A10 back out he will be out money not to mention time, an insane amount of time. I'm not Mathew and I cant speak for him, but I wouldn't even consider the A10 unless I had all the money up front from each person as allot of that will be gobbled up in huge molds and tons of resin...

Bottom line, if the Natter is done first you A10 guys may have to wait a few more weeks.. but if the A10 comes first we all may be worshiping a golden calf by the time Mathew comes back down the mountain A10 in hand

I don't think anyone that is on board with the A-10 project hasn't considered what is being asked of Matthew. Matthew has been studying the A-10 project for a long time now and i'm sure that before he announced it was going to happen he had considered it himself. Don't forget there is also a financial backer behind this project too. The A-10 is nothing like a B-25 either. The detail level a B-25 would require is 5 times that of what an A-10 will.

It's ok, just be patient like us A-10 guys have been. Good things come to those who wait....... :D

But remember the financial backer is not Santa Claus and yes pound for pound, inch for inch the B-25 and the A10 stack up about the same unless you consider making all the ordnance for the A10 or a detailed interior of the B-25.

Actually, the A-10 is only bigger in one area, the length by about 5 inches. When it comes to the wings, the B-25 far out ranks the A-10 in size:

B-25

Wingspan: 67 ft. 7 in.

Wing Area: 610 sq. ft.

A-10

Wingspan: 57 ft. 6 in.

Wing Area: 506 sq. ft.

The wing area and wing span together would make it a bigger project than the A-10.

Don't know what a financial backer bieng or not being Santa Claus has anything to do with the conversation...... :? Sounds like someone that has a desire like others to get a 1/18 A-10 in their collection and thanks to Matthew, finally will with this project.... :D

Thanks for the breakout of the two Birddog but you kinda made my point. The 10 ft difference in wingspans in 1/18 is a difference of only 6.6" or about 3" per wing...

Im not trying to butt heads with you on this, just illustrating the size is very similar.

I assume that the "financial backer" is someone who is interested in purchasing the molds to run their own production after his but I may be wrong.

Not really because you still aren't taking into account the wing area difference which results in a thicker wing chord (more resin/plastic=more weight) and even the 3" adds more weight that has to be accounted for in strength of the build.

Just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I could go with any paint scheme on my full build Natter. If I had to pick I would go with an experimental winter scheme.

Zelda's great offer of painting for $15 on a built Nater is too good to pass. I'd go for any paint scheme Zelda wants to do. I'm sure it would be great.

So, I'm changing my mind again, now from a kit, up to a full built, from Pickel, painted by Zelda.

Sound good.

I won the Sky model company 1/32 scale Natter off of E0bay and it came in yesterday.

The model has 2 or 3 tail configurations !!

I have 2 books on the Natter. The Shieffer printing book and the Myra book.

Booth of them contradict each other. Especially with the paint schemes.

On the Sky box art they show the pilot getting into the Natter and it shows the Natter having a BLACK belly.

The box also shows the bottom being black on the 3 paint scheme profiles.

The Myra books states that all of the Natters ( except the yellow and natural wood )bottoms being painted RLM white.

They even have a few models in the text with white bottoms.

Looking at the pictures of the " real " Natter , it sure looks black to me.

I did get the hard back Natter book and I am waiting for it to come in.

The new Natter book I am waiting for is the same format as my Horten 229 book.

It is the best Horten book out there so hopefully it will shed a new look on this controversy.

BTW the Natter model does seem as an easy build and if this project gets off of the ground it could possibly be an easy build for you guys as well.
