BBI Pilots

Post by bobb428 » Sat Feb 02, 2013 12:18 pm

Do the BBI F-18 pilots fit in the F-14 without much hassle?

Yep, total pain in the rear to get them in. I had to take their legs off.

I haven't tried the F-18 pilots yet. I did pickup 4 - 2 jolly rogers and 2 black knights versions on ebay a while back and they fit very nice though not articulated. I believe these were the ones that skyjerks were selling at some time.

They weren't easy to fit in, for whatever reason. I had better fit with my original "custom" pilots using the BBI S1 Blackhawk pilot body. But, as said above, with some work, the F-18 pilots do fit. It was easier to get the figure into the RIO's seat than in the pilots.

Mine fit just fine. Took a little work but, well worth the effort.

This is my VF-154 F-14A version. This is all factory paint. I have done nothing to this one except add the pilot and RIO.

I've placed many BBI figures in many narrow places (haven't got the Tomcat though). Dig your figure (or his legs) in warm water, it softens the plastic and this will help to place it. I've also used the microwave oven, but be carefull, it comes quickly to the melting point. I will not use the microwave anymore, since I had to repair a lot of fallen hands with very small screws, so...

Just like in WW 2 different pilots shared the same plane.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

My mind is in the gutter...
A helicopter does not want to fly, it just vibrates so much that the ground rejects it

Ok, The Heli Pilot, now let go of your (collective?) pitch controll stick. I did'nt tell to rub the small figures legs with glycerine before introducing in both holes...

Hey, I think your onto something!
That my be why they're so hard to get in there, and maybe using warm water isn't The right thing to do, the "figures" shouldn't be soft...they should be lubricanted for ease sliding them in...
