if this was going to be as detailed as your Other project, and have functioning gear, I might change my mind.

The detail will match the rest of my mods.

As far as working gear that probably will not happen.Resin can not hold up like injection moulded plastic.
So the only option will be plug and play.
I am thinking real hard of getting the gear struts made out of metal. That way durability will not be an issue.

The E-bay interest post is working so-so. 4 guys have come forward saying yes.

It has had 220 views with 11 guys watching.

16 guys have said on this forum that they want one.

If possible please pm me for conformation on this.

On my Tiger II post if you go with the post I have 42 orders. With actual deposits and payment the reality is 16 orders.

So I would like to get a hard number on potential orders.

Again please contact me with your potential orders.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On another note. This post has blossomed to a possible build thread.

It started as a what could have been thread.

After the post started my financial backer was still jazzed about the A-10 .

He wants one so much that he volunteered the money to get this thing rolling !!

Then I talked to my 3-D guy and he gave me a price and the A-10 project started .

Talk about the Galaxy coming together and aligning. :D

Or having meteors and asteroids raining down on you.

Seriously, is the A-10 a GO, PH? Sounds like it. 8)

Great news, and hopefully everyone who has committed, steps up to the plate.

Not for me, but know that some guys will be very happy about this.

I do understand Snake . The A-10 is not for everybody.

Some good news !!

My financier is ready to start .

I talked to my 3-D programmer guy and he is about 3 weeks out or so.

This timing should work out just fine because that ( 3 weeks ) is about how long the K2 project should take to wrap up.

I have asked guys on the forum to PM me with interest conformation and only one of you has done so.

Please PM me with a show of hands of you guys who are truly interested in this project.

Dude, your re-selling mass-produced toys on e-Bay at $500-600 a pop, but complain about a highly detailed made-from-scratch 1 : 6.25 Scale A-10 for JUST UNDER $4k? Are you kidding me?

Who said I was " complaining" about the price. :?:

$4K IS a big price tag for any model, regardless of how good it is, or its size.

And think you are a little too focused on what a Red Devil is priced at on Ebay.

The pre-painted Warhog model comes in at $3,695. Why, that's a steal! You just have to sell your inventory of 'exclusive', 'rare', 'super-ultra-hard-to-find' BBI F-18s to buy one. A few more 1/18 scale Hornets and you can buy the complete ordnance/pylon set too.

C'mon, Snake, don't be so stingy!

Sounds like someone has a problem with the Badcat Hornets.

And don't misquote me.

How about the RAAF Hornets, that were done for an Australian dealer. Only 250 of those done. Is that rare enough for you, KoF. :?:

What about the Badcat ANG F-16's? Only 100 of each of those done.

Are these rare, or just more "mass produced models".

Skyworks "Aggressor" F-16.

Maybe a one off TKO custom CF-18. One of one.

Not sure at what point you would call a model rare, KoF.

Or do you just like to complain about prices, and what other people have.

You seem to like that A-10. Why not go for it. C'mon KoF, don't be so negative, and stingy.

Ok, without any intention of hijacking this thread, let's put it this way, Snake, so you can really grasp the irony of it all: If you could buy this 1:6.25 scale model for $3,695 then re-sell it on eBay at thrice the price you would NOT be arguing that the original price tag is too high (and, yes, for clarity's sake, IMO that's complaining). In fact, you'd probably seize the opportunity to earn some additional cash by jacking up the price, without hesitation.

That's likely the reason you won't be buying the A-10 from Pickel: the profit margin. You wrote on this very thread: "While I picked up a fabulous Horten, to be honest, the A-10 just doesn't excite me enough to pay that amount for it." That amount being $500 for an unpainted kit.

Despite sitting on a stash of BBI F-18s and asking outrageous prices for them (meaning you could easily afford one of Pickel's A-10s), you apparently believe that anyone, save yourself, should be willing to pay high price tags for their models. You reserve the 'right to be stingy' only when it suits you.

Likewise, you reserve the 'right to feel insulted' if someone offers you $50 for your F-18, but feel entitled to lecture everyone and their granny about what they should consider reasonable/high prices.

Fair enough, but that's a little hypocritical of you, don't you think?

BTW, 'Rare' is any of the RAAF Hornets, not something you could purchase literally all over Europe and the US a few years ago. Get it?

You need/want the money. I get it. Listen, I couldn't care less whether you intend to sell your 1/18 toys/collectibles for a couple grand each, but I strongly object to people like you making up silly claims on e-Bay without any basis in fact.

And you're right. I HATE TOY SCALPERS. There's that. Sue me.

Greetings:

From what I have read here, all Snake is stating is that the A-10 is not for him and that is his right. At 1/6 scale the A-10 is huge and at 1/18 scale the A-10 is huge. The A-10 pickelhaube is making will not be for everyone not just due to price, but due to the size as well. This isn't a knock on pickelhaube's project, it is just simple facts.

This is what I predicted would happen with 1/18. Eventually, the large size of these models would catch up with people. Had Matthew done this maybe 2-3 years ago he might have had much more interest. The dry hobby, poor economy and large sizes of the pieces have caused people to lose interest. I myself cut my 1/18 piece load by over 50% in the last few years, not because they aren't cool, just because I have limited display space and can't keep them. I would love to have Pickel's A-10 in a 111th PA ANG scheme, but I know I don't have the room or the kit skills to build it. So I am not going to be ordering it, sorry Matthew, not trying to ruin your parade on this pretty cool project.

As far as this F-18 nonsense goes, the whole discussion would not have started in the first place had some idiot who doesn't read old threads and gets a free pass on everything here had brought it up. That's how the F-18 ebay auction actually started getting discussed in the first place.

Reality is, Snake can charge whatever he wants for his F-18's. I don't think Snake is in a desperate mode to sell them and as far as the rare label goes, many people use it. Whats the big deal? If he sells his F-18's he does, if he doesn't then he needs to rethink his price or plan if he does in fact want to sell them. I just think the people that have an issue with it are really fishing for trouble, search ebay and you will see many other folks doing the exact same thing with a variety of items. Nothing wrong with it, a seller is free to list however he wants, it is up to the buyer to be informed and make the purchase decision.

King O Fools,

I have sold less models than I have fingers on my right hand. So I am not a " scalper" as you so politely put.

So your entire arguement, and opinion, is NULL AND VOID.

I collect models to enjoy and yes, I have bought doubles of a few. And why not? What gives you the right to pass judgement on me, over what I am asking for a Red Devil. You don't like the price, don't buy it. What difference does it make to you.

You seem obsessed with this, and keep going on about profit margins, and that I need or want the money. Again, I have sold less than 5 models, and not all of them on Ebay. Some to forum members for great prices, for them.

I got this price for a JR, so why not a RD. If it sells, great. If it doesn't, I will be fine.

And in regards to PH. I picked up his Horten. Did you? Not a huge A-10 fan, and don't even have one in 1/72. BTW, KoF, 1/72 is where you can make a real killing on Ebay. Strangely, I haven't though. Must be because I am not a seller.

And lets be honest, KoF. If you could get that 1/6 A-10, and be sure to double your $4k investment, wouldn't you? And if not, you would truly live up to your forum name.

Have a nice day.

Hey Pickel, I think I may be in for an A-10 but I need to see how my skills do putting together the King Tiger first. If it goes well, then I'm in, otherwise, I'm screwed :-(

Hello Jay,

We are just starting to get off the ground.

I feel when we have actually something to show , then would be a good time to accept deposits.

Or when we are starting to print pieces on the prototype.

Hopefully with fingers and toes crossed it could be next week.

But please do not hold your breath,.

Matthew,
Money was tight on the Horten, but I would be interested on the A-10. Are you looking to spread out the payments over a few months or just a couple? I'm happy to see the A-10 finally become a reality.

Spread out is fine,
I have had one of my purchaser take about a year to finalize payment.

corey after reading your post about the ebay thing i hope you are not talking about me if so not cool calling people an idiot . every one has an openion even you. you should be man enough to use names and talk to people not around them.and as for snake the part of that post is yes you can say rare all you want and ask any price theres always someone willing to pay to much for something. i own as you rare people put it 4 planes that where low production things. i defend snakes right to sell at any price what burns me is the aproach of rare !! kof has his thoughts and they are ok for his money range. the plane is killer but way out of most peoples price range . i like the a-10 but space and money make it impossable to own any large version. cory if your idiot post was not about me please forgive me but being ex navy it bugs me when people do not say things face to face.
