1/18, Now this takes me back..

Post by hworth18 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 11:25 am

I went into a local militaria shop today and he had a nice selection of 1/18 scale planes for sale. Kinda took me back to the old Walmart days when you had a selection to choose from but at much better prices..

I'm guessing he was asking current prices?

Looked like an okay price for the Humbrol paint...

Higher than Wal-Mart even before the purge.

These 1/18 do pop up at all sorts of out of the way places.

Many times as display pieces.

The Motorworks P-47 really does take me back.
This was my first 1/18 plane and cost $47.99.
I admired the hell outta "Peg" ...still do.

I just want to kick myself sometimes when I remember walking
past all the 1/18 scale stuff that WM was trying to get rid of
a few years ago at $15 a pop (For planes) around here

As I move into my new house, I've been going through all sorts of papers and other junk I accumulated in my old place. One interesting find was a Badcat catalogue from 2005 - at the height of the XD boom. It was great seeing all the 1:18 21c and BBI planes that you can hardly find anymore. All for the nice price of around $50 (which I recall thinking was high back then, but would take anytime today!) Then there were the 1:32 FOV tanks for about $30 bucks a piece compared to the $65 or more today. Glad I was around for those days, but in retrospect, should have taken better advantage of it than I did
