any basic brown horse....avoid the fancier coloured horses, like black, white etc. Schleich horses are ok but Papo ones are generally better and usually a bit bigger, though none are really big enough. Papo also makes some horses wearing reins, saddles etc, although they aren't as nice quality wise as the collectible horse line.

I always liked the Power Team Elite horse that comes with one of those little sets that Big Lots gets in the fall and around Christmas time. I've got a couple and used one for a German dispatch rider.

The horse is your basic brown horse, has a simple saddle (fake leather pad with elastic straps) and the animal is well articulated. I don't have a picture of the rider setup I had, but it was easy enough to do with a 21c D-Day style German figure and sticking some extra accessories like breadbags on either side of the saddle. The figure never sat quite right, but looked decent nonetheless.

PTE also has an excellent Camel that could be used in a DAK dio or modern middle east setup.

The horse from the Indy Jones deluxe figure set a few years ago was one of the best as far as pose and proportion. It's white though so you'd probably want to repaint it.

Agreed on the Indiana Jones Horse (plus everything comes off it) and the PTE horse which is really an outstanding deal to boot.

Now Hasbro, make us some Head Sculpt & Endor Uniform variations! The new Rebel Fleet Trooper gets the JJ Seal of Approval Though!

This is the Power Team Elite (PTE) horse set:

It usually costs between $4-$6 and is sold at retail at Big Lots discount stores.

PTE items start to be come available usually early fall through the holidays at Big Lots, though there are online vendors that carry the items. I've seen the horse set released annually for the past several years.

Wait a little while and that PTE one may be readily available too... Big Lots may be getting their PTE stuff in, within the month or so... one can hope.
