Relax, enjoy and join in the banter that takes place here. :)

Since your post landed here, we are then to assume you are a 1/18er :?:

Welcome to the forum, Walt. :D

You should tell us a little about yourself, and what you collect.

Walt, there are lots of cool forums on this site. Take a look at "Board index" on the left of your screen. There you'll find a handy directory.

The 1/32 scale and smaller forum is fun to check out. Lots of folks have posted info on tanks and planes that are, or were, available.

The Customs and modifications forum is a cool place to see, and read about models that have been fixed up, detailed, and repainted.

The Buy and sell forum is a great place to see who's selling and buying models and modeling items. You must be a member for 6 months before you can participate, but take a look at how business is done in the meantime.

Off topic is a place where the guys talk about non-model stuff. One thing you'll notice is we're a friendly community. The threads will reflect that.

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I am prob not to differant from many of you. I went into a TRU near my home in 1999 and there was a isle of 21st. I was not even into toys..just killing time looking for a gift for a friends child. It was like magic. There was the littlebird and all the carded 1/6 and the huey and 1/18th. I purchased a viet fig and 2 carded sets and that was it....lol. I remember hiding the figs at work and telling myself lies when I found myself at TRU at lunch and afterwork...still told myself lies when I had to go in Target and buy my 1st large sterlite bin. It was like being in the movie big and I had a wallet that could get me all the stuff my mom said no to when I was a kid. And here I am witha ton of it all now. I mainly collect modern 1/6 and 1/18th. Aircraft and figs...a little vietnam too. I just purchased the 1st f-14 and I knew about the spots from u guys. I hope I can fix it a lil

If you need a starting point for the de-spotting of the spotcat I'd check out the customs thread. There are quite a few different posts there about customs and projects. I also know there are quite a few people here with a wealth of experience you can draw from. If you have a reasonable skill level or even if your just willing to experiment, the sky is the limit. Good luck with it.

Hey guys...taking your advice and want to
de-spot" the F-14 I got at Comic Con. I have been searching the customs section and have seen some great tips but can't find info on the despotting for a rookie. I remember some guys used make up sponges instead of a airbrush...any help to find the page would be cool....thanks and I will keep looking too

Welcome aboard. Dean Kleines was the original "spot cat" sponge pad guru. See the following link:

My post is about 1/2 way down showing my results using the sponge pad method.
Good luck,
Phil
