21C Proto of 1/18 M-10

Post by Threetoughtrucks » Tue Jun 26, 2012 9:07 am

Well, this seller started low and has jumped in the last 24 hours on this "just found" 21C prototype.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/230815697557?ss ... 1423.l2649

Most of his "found" stuff is just silly high prices but this M-10 started low. Maybe this guy figured it was not worth much because it wasn't painted?

Besides this guys stash, wonder how much stuff is still out there?

ah what could have been (the reprise).

check out the seller's other items......some neat stuff including a 1/6 flak 88mm and a 1/12 sdkfz 7

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FOUND-1-12-SCAL ... 35bda1c166

i gather 'this guy' is one of the 21c upper ups, maybe Jim Allen himself.

WOW  I love that 1/6 88mm!! I dont know if I like it enough to buy it for $5000 but WOW!

Question- Here are all these prototypes.. Why doesnt PH or someone buy these things and mold them and make a killing?? Im just starting on the mold/resin thing but I would think that buying one of these would be a no brainier for PH, imagine if he could have bought the Horton totally done for $1000 and just made copies of it and saved all that time... Please buy the 88mm gun PH :D

That is a M-36 and I plan on doing one.

The M-36 turret can also be used on a standard Sherman chassis.

As far as bidding on these, I just do not have the money plain and simple.

But I have been looking at it. :D

Now that TTT has let the cat out of the bag there is no telling how much it will go for !!

I recall seeing a 1/18 scale 21st Century airplane that appeared o be F8F Bearcat prototype in a Corsair box on ebay a few years back. I have not seen it since. Like "Threetoughtrucks" I to am curious as to what never made it to production.

I didn't know about the 21st Century F8F Bearcat, but I posted a few days ago that I hoped Merit would release a 1/18 Bearcat.

I think the Bearcat would be a viable option since it's not a huge plane and it has an interesting history.

I some what recall that Bear Cat.

I think somebody TRIED to make a Hellcat into a Bearcat and it did not look so hot.

I think that somebody picked it up at a Walmart.

It was a returned item and the customizer pulled a fast one.

Sorry to let the cat out of the bag, I just thought youse guys would be interested. It's not like I was lurking around the auction, ready to pounce and snatch up that M-36.

Actually, I was, but so many bidders are now involved, pricing me out, maybe this seller will see the light and actually have a real auction. He may make out better than pricing his stuff sky high and getting no bidders, like the 1/6 88mm at a ridiculous $5000 price, which has gotten interest but will get no bidders. Like the 1/12 protos the has with no bidders at $400 and the proto 1/6 Scout Car, high price and ridiculous shipping.

The guy has had some very nice 21C stuff, like the 1/6 t38 tank that is the legendary foe of the 21C Stuart and was pictured in 21C literature for years but never developed for sale.

What might have been....

I understand the 1/18 and 1/6 scale stuff, but I'm wondering why they decided to go the 1/12th route, is it a popular scale?

As the story goes, Wallyworld didn't like the 1/6 vehicles, because they took up too much display space and pressured 21C to come up with a class of vehicles between 1/18 and 1/6 they could sell. 21C had the protos made but Wallyworld dumped 21C before they had gone beyond the proto phase.

According to legend, there are only a few 1/12.

The only 1/12 vehicle I am aware of was made by Plan B which I have, having purchased two MIB on this site BST, a very nice Jeep with mg and a driver.

The pic shows comparison in size between 1/18, 1/16, 1/12 and 1/6 -

i thought the 1/12 stuff was a precursor to the 1/18 line? In which case the 1/12 stuff would have been developed in the late 1990's, just before XD came out in the summer/fall of 2000. Whatever, it never happened but yes 1/12 is a popular scale......it's 6 inch figure scale, which is a very popular scale and was back then too, being made popular by McFarlane Toys in the 90's.

I have been watching the stuff from marshall and some of the helicopters and planes have sold for reasonable prices. The M36 tank destroyer is now at 355.00 and going out of my range.
I remember the Bearcat well as it was from somebody in my area and I asked the guy a few questions. It did not look good at all.

I found the old post it was labeled "Ebay mystery plane". It shows a picture of what was meant to represent a F8F Bearcat. Lot of comments and speculation by members. The plane sold for just over $150.00 and was believed to be someone conversion attempt gone wrong.

Anyone know who might have bought his t38-based SPG in 1/6 scale?

I noticed the 1/6 Kubel that's at $150 right now apparently comes with a jeep and 4 figures as well.

I don't really collect that scale but I did buy my daughter a WalMart reissue Joe a few years back and got a Schwimmwagen from mikeg for him to run Ken over with, and the thought of my daughter having the only Barbie in town with a tank and a man to drive it is compelling.

Pickel, you should list your M-10 kit at least once every month. This tank is going for high bucks because there hasn't been a 1/18 scale U.S. tank destroyer on ebay for a looong time...

Price went back down to $118 from $355.

If it stays that low I will bid on it. :D

Forget that tank!! buy that 88mm!!! It went down to $2,000!!!!

You could mold that thing and make a fortune!!! $300-$400 a kit all day long I would guess...

Plus if you get it PH I'll drive up there and get it for you, I live about 3hrs away from him. Im sure I could get it shipped to you for alot less than his insane $500!!

PLEASE PH!!! I would like to put one of these in my front yard!!! If you dont have the money start taking deposits today!!

I've got an idea. Jnewboy, you can buy it for $2,000 and loan it to Pickle to make copies. I'm sure he would give you the first copy free and when he returns the 88mm to you, I'm sure you can sell it and get your money back. :P

Sounds like a great idea to me...

Much too high shipping for me and not worth the drive for me...

Makes me sad to see the 88. I was into 1/6 big time years ago. Would have been all over one of those if they had been made. Have to agree though, it's even sadder seeing what might have been.

I agree that taking deposits and buying the M-36 and 88 gun is a great idea.
I have a 1/18 scale 88 gun and it is as big as a 1/18 scale tank.
I am assuming that this will be as big as a 1/6 tank. And the amount of small and big parts that will have to be made is huge.
The size of this thing, amount of resin and amount of parts all points that the Kit will have to sell for more than a 1/18 scale resin tank.
Still i think this will always be a huge seller because the popularity of the 88 gun and the fact that no one else makes them in this scale. It is the biggest 1/6 gun i have seen and people who collect 1/6 dragon and DID Germans will want this.
