Allgo and value of 21st Century 1/18?

Assuming that Allgo's return has failed, how does that affect the value of 21st Century 1/18 models such as the F-86 Sabre, P-38 Lightning, MiG-15, F-104 Starfighter, F4U Corsair, UH-1 Huey, etc.

Also, it appears JSI won't be releasing repaints of the F-104, P-38, F4U and UH-1, so that's another factor to consider.

I guess the meaning is rather simple: if there is a demand for them, but limited to no supply, the value will go up.

Certain items that saw more limited production runs or items that had special or unique paint schemes will climb in value first, followed by others over time. For the past few years, it seems that OOP 21c P-51s and similar-sized aircraft held a value between $80 to $150. Supercobra Helicopters, Spitfires, etc, tended to me much higher. I can't say whether things will spike or not, but certainly prices (especially for MIB items) will climb.

TMANTHEGREAT:

Based strictly on ebay's Buy It Now prices, here's a quick glance at new, boxed 21st 1/18 prices:

1. P-51 Mustang ($140-$300)
2. F-86 Sabre ($80-$150)
3. MiG-15 ($98-$200)
4. P-47 Thunderbolt ($130-$310)
5. Spitfire ($280-$325)
6. UH-1 Huey ($200-$350)
7. AH-1 SuperCobra ($300-$400)

8. JSI F-14 Tomcat/"Spotcat" VF-84 ($300-$570)
9. JSI F-14 Tomcat/Bombcat VF-154 ($280-$660)

I'm sort of surprised to see Mustangs selling that high, but I'm not surprised at the high prices on the AH-1, UH-1 and Spitfire. However, I'm really surprised at the prices on the JSI "Spotcat".

Prices for 21st century items should go up a lot when it becomes vintage in about another 15 years, when guys who had them as kids get old enough to become nostalgic collectors.

A lot of those prices are asking prices . I do not believe they are selling for that.

Except for the Huey and Cobra.

PICKELHAUBE:

Yeah, I know ebay Buy It Now prices are inflated, but they're easier to compare since selling prices for models up for bid are pretty unpredictable.

I remember an old post by TKO211 in which he predicted 1/18 prices would skyrocket---but that was before BBI rereleased the F-16 and F/A-18, JSI went into 1/18 hibernation and Allgo being in limbo.

The prices are high, but because there is not enough of them sometimes people get desperate and pay those prices.Mostly to buyers who offer international shipping.
Also the expensive ones don't sell right away.
I am sure value will go up in 10 more years because we are talking about huge scale items that are already assemble and painted. We won't see many on ebay as now.

I have an entire huge storage thing stacked ceiling high of boxed unopened (in original shipping boxes) 21st Century toys 1:18 aircraft/vehicles/figures that I'm waiting on as well. Once I see the demand grow and the supply evaporate more, I'll be bringing them out for sale. Thanks for the update on the current going prices! Glad I have several Hueys and Cobras!

That is something nice to be sitting on for the right time.
There are a few people on Ebay who inflate the prices with BIN and they do sell stuff but not often. That is OK as they are not in a hurry to sell. I always hold out and something always comes up cheaper. Economy is not well here and overseas so prices have not spiked. Who knows maybe it is the wrong thing to hold out as things could get worse with the global economy. I had huge collection of 1/6 dragon and DID figures and sold them all couple years ago. Prices have dropped on that stuff and I'm glad I got rid of it when I did.
