Any Interest in a 1/18th F-117 ?

Post by pickelhaube » Mon Jun 25, 2012 6:51 am

I am watching a show about the F-117 on the Military Chanel.

The F-117 is a kind of simple aircraft in shape. Albeit lots and lots of angles.

It will be big in 1/18th scale

Length 43.94 inches
Wing Span 28.8 inches.

I am envisioning a flat kit . Pieces of plastic cut in shape that will need to be glued together. Kind of like a HUGE paper model kit.

No panel lines ( painted black you can not see them anyway )
No landing gear
No cockpit ( maybe later ) with the tented glass you can not see in !
No ordinance.

Just the outside shell , canopy and decals .

I do not want to take on a year long project like the Horten . That project put me in the poor house.

IF I DO THIS , IT MAY START IN THE MIDDEL OF NEXT YEAR !!!!!!

Any interest ?

How much will you pay ?

I would be interested if it were more like the Horton... Molded with gear. I would not be too good at getting all those angles the same on both sides of the aircraft while managing glue, finished edges, etc... Neat plane though!

I would be definitely interested, but would prefer to see some helicopters first, specifically the UH-1D Huey and the Vietnam Cobra.

I would be interested in one. I could picture it hanging from my ceiling escorted by a pair of F-16's.

Matthew:

Not sure it would look right without at least some panel lines. I remember seeing these at airshows and because the aircraft was black and the material it is made out of, the panel lines are very noticeable on the aircraft. Especially in sunlight

Just saying. Cool project though.

To be honest, PH, no interest from me.

Might go for one in 1/72, but only one.

Although an interesting aircraft, really doesn't appeal to me as a display model, and certainly not in 1/18.
