Helicopters

Post by volleyballjoe » Fri Apr 20, 2012 7:23 pm

Is there anywhere I can go to find the different models of 1:18 helicopters produced and the manufacturers?

I won't go into all the specific paint scheme details, however, here is a listing of all 1:18 helicopter models made thus far:

21st Century UH-1C Huey gunship variant w/ grenade launcher & rockets (1x paint scheme)
21st Century UH-1C Huey slick variant with smooth nose & rockets (3x paint scheme)
21st Century AH-1W Supercobra (2x paint scheme)
BBI AH-6 Littlebird standard w/ doors, rocket pods, TOW (2x paint scheme)
BBI AH-64 Apache (2x paint scheme)
BBI UH-60 Blackhawk with wing booms, fuel pods, interior seats (2x paint scheme, one as USAF Pavehawk)
BBI MH-6 "Nightstalker" Littlebird w/ benches, drop rope, w/o doors (1x paint scheme)
BBI OH-58 Kiowa w/ different armament options (2x paint scheme)
BBI MH-60 "Night Raid" Blackhawk w/ miniguns and open interior

Here's a listing of quasi-realistic helicopters that are close to 1:18 scale, but not as accurate as the 21c or BBI toolings:

PTE "Combat Helicopter" AH-6 Littlebird (1x paint scheme, I think)
PTE "Aerial Rocket Helicopter" Chinese Z9/Eurocopter Dauphin (2x versions: 1 w/ rockets, 1x w/o rockets)
PTE/True Heroes Blackhawk (2-3 paint schemes)
PTE/True Heroes Apache Longbow (1 paint scheme)
True Heroes Chinook (I'm really stretching being realistic by including this one...)

NP Brother, until your 6 months are up, Ebay is probably your best bet in finding these. Also craigslist has some good deals pop up once in a while, there is a craigslist threat you might want to check once in a while. Welcome aboard.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. I picked up some helicopters on eBay in the last couple of days. I found some open displays and several unopened items. It seems the Pave Hawk and Marine "camo" cobra the hardest to find. I did finally find a Pave Hawk unopened.

From one "rotorhead" to another (although I have fixed wing and even armor as well), if you enjoy getting your hands a little dirty - there are some great mods you can do to make your choppers unique.
A guy named Pickelhaube makes some great kits as add ons. They require a little "work" to get them installed but well worth it. If you've done a little amatuer modelling (kits) in the past you will have the skills to make them work.
He's done kits for the BBI blackhawk/pavehawk and the 21st Huey. Here's a pic of my pavehawk with his FLIR, Radome, Fuel probe, window inserts, and mini-guns. He wants to eventually do a DAP version as well.

pcoughran, did you make the internal (cabin, removable) tanks? Your pic doesn't show this point clearly.

I did not make the internal tanks. Was hoping maybe Pickelhaube would eventually get around to making these one day.
