Display cabinet - finally got one...

Post by markecho » Sat Mar 31, 2012 8:31 am

Hello all,
Haven't posted in a long time...mainly because not much to post...ie not much in the way (for me at least) to buy - and also because my main focus has been 1:6 (like a lot of other collectors I am sure.) But finally did manage to take out some of my WWII stuff and put it on display.

(Moderators I couldn't find a topic for showing displays/collections, so please feel free to move this post there. Is there a sticky thread for it?)

Although I favor showing set ups in outdoor scenes (like other pics on my page), I thought I'd share what I came up with for my small display. I have a small den and most of what I have displayed is 1:6, but I decided to set aside one case to show some of my 1:18 stuff for a time being. I guess it sort of represents our niche that we are in right now... there is such a big market for 1:6 with Hot Toys and SST leading the way.

So if anyone wondered I got my cases at Ikea, this one is the Billy case (15" deep x 31.5" wide x 79.5" tall) with Inreda spotlights. All the dio accessories are from Build O Rama (who we all know kick arse btw)
Figures are mix of 21stC, Dragon, and BBi - vehicles are all 21st except for the german motorcycle

So this is my work in progress - things may be added, changed or rearranged...but this is what I got going now...
Thanks for looking!

The black color of the cabinet makes a good contrast for the items. 8) 8)

Good Lord, that 88 flak looks awesome. The detail is execellent. It's probably better than my FOV 88. :D :D

Really like your display. The black shows off the items in your collection.

Is that the ultimate soldier grey flak 88 that surfaced recently or repaint?

That 88 is fan-f**king-tastic. I'm primarily an aircraft enthusiast but I have to keep my eye out for one of those now.

thanks for all the nice comments guys!
yeah the 88 is one of my favorites too- glad to finally get a grey one!

answer to questions:
Black Dragon One (and also answer to Razor17019 question) - no I did not out bid you..haha...actually I have never bough a 1:18 military item off ebay. I bought that off of Mark from B-O-R from one of the AWOH shows waaaay back when (2005 I believe)...I only got the two story and one story (3 story was too expensive for me at the time)...the buildings were shown as prototypes at the show...here is a pic of mine posted in 2006 of the 2 buildings:

gliderdwm - yes it is the 21stC 88 repaint that I bought from the great people at Foxhole toys

Thanks all!

That setup looks great, especially the lighting or was it the photography? Either way the sets just pop!

Very cool on the BOR buildings. Were they only ever prototypes or did they make it into production at some point?

AS others have already said, great display! Now just get about 3 more of them and set up the rest of the collection!
