New 1:18 repaints soon!

Post by baronvlad » Mon Mar 12, 2012 12:15 pm

Hey Guys, long time lurker here Baronvlad or some of you know know me as
Barry.
I had been working with a guy in Hong Kong and he just contacted me
letting me know he might have some repaints of older 1:18 scale planes.
And personally I'm pretty excited! I'm not 100% sure yet whats coming,
he told me he would have a update in a couple of days with photos.
I just wanted to tell someone so I stopped by here. I'll let you know
more as soon as I get it
Thanks Barry

I have heard the same, incidentally. Not for sure what plane. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

well as there are no thunderbolt, spitfire molds around those can be ruled out.

So, if it's not bbi repaints, then that leaves the usual suspects: 109e/g, p-38, stuka, and maybe a p-51.

My initial hunch is BBi's 109.

This sounds like a possible covert flanking maneuver by JSI

But keen to see what the repaint is

My understanding is that both the t-Bolt and Spitfire molds are toast and have been since 2007-2008? somewhere in that timeframe. :(

I did get a photo today of the prototype, but was told not to publish it yet! I talked with one of the reps he said they we're waiting for final approval.
So really soon! I think their just trying to build a teaser campaign :-)

Thanks for the tease Baronvlad.

Will be interesting to see what this is, and who is doing it.

BTW, Barry, I bought some stuff from you when I first started collecting 1/18, and just want to say thanks. :D

Allrighty gents, here is the P-51 that is being planned. These pictures are coming out of Asia, the manufacturer will announce themselves sometime in the near future. For now, they are putting out some preliminary scheme photos and are curious for feedback on accuracy, etc.

Looks nice. I would have preferred Frenesi but it didn't have that fillet in front of the rudder.

I don't usually comment on the stuff being released. Lot of negative comments about the FA-18 release. I understand both views but overall I think it is a good thing 1/18 new repaints are at least coming out. On the down side really another P-51 repaint :( . Was really hoping for a huey or a 109e BOB or something but this. Not to sound like a whiner so I will wait for something else down the pipeline.

The only glaring error I see is that "American Beauty" was only supposed to be on the port side. It has it on both sides. "Lovely Lila" is supposed to be on the starboard side. Other than that it looks great.
