1/16 88mm Flak Gun

Post by Jnewboy » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:10 am

Hey guys, I have had this 1/16 diecast 88mm gun for along time. I have it listed on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150716514879?ss ... 1558.l2649

This is not a shameless attempt at selling it to you guys, I just wonder if anyone has any information on it? like how old it is? how rare it is? who makes it? is it still made? how many were made???

Any help would be great! Thanks!

made by a company in spain. Been around for well over 10 years. Now out of production. No idea how many were made. They were molded with the barrel in the recoil position. They used to go for $50-$70 but i don't think they fetch much these days.

Thanks aferg, I have not seen one for sale in some time, do you know if they are the only 88mm that has been produced in 1/16? I am not aware of any other?

as far as i know it is the only one but it was produced for several years, so i don't think it's all that rare. It was never all that popular, i don't think.

As far as i know it is the only 1/16 88mm gun.Verlinden makes a 1/15 88mm,but is made of resin. So you can imagine that if the 21st century 88mm gun is fragile and is made of plastic, the resin will probably by even more fragile.I have not seen one of this die-cast 88 in a long time.and 1/16 is a very popular scale with RC stuff.I think this is the perfect time to sell it.

yea I hear you tankace, building ant resin model is hard but an 88mm would really be torture and yes it would break very easily. I wonder what the company who made my guns name is? I always thought it was cool simply because it was so heavy made and yet very detailed and best yet there is nothing stamped on it that says made in china!!

"back in the days when I was young...."
These were sold online by the history channel at some point around 2005/6.

Denix right. I didn't realize they were still in production. I thought they stopped a few years ago....maybe they have and this is just old stock. Used to be all over Ebay for $70 or less and didn't sell very fast, iirc.

Mine has been in my attic for years. I bought it years ago from the History Channel, but never cared for the workmanship. The fact that the barrel is in full recoil and had no wheels, and little detail. To me it always looked like just a desk paperweight, or a door stopper.

I'd rather have a 1/18 21C 88mm anytime, no matter what the price. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen my 1/16 88mm in such a long time I may have sold or traded it.

Pre-21st it was the only option. Nowadays I could see it being decent for an outdoor 1/16 RC tank battlefield. Im pretty sure I still have two of them somewhere. Maybe I'll dig them out and bolt them to the hood of my van...

That will be one really expensive hood ornament!
