c'est la 1/18 scale vie. Delays are par for the course.

my guess is the Midway Dauntless won't be out til year's end....the Coral Sea one will be out this summer.

Agree with your timetable, 100%...I just hope they can stick to that schedule!
I've got one of each on order w/Aikens, so we'll see.

saw this baby in person today... i was on vc so i drop by there... pic does not do it justice.. i was not able to take pic or hold it but i was able take a look at it .. paint job out of this world better then the hell cat....

this will be a great bird the people there were nice but hush about when and were when these will be ship... the box art is simple but the bird is out standing... will have to put money down for one myself. can not wait...

there little light glass insert to show wing light in the wing to scale sweet.. this is by the way a model to and not a toy .. it is on the same toughness as the hellcat or course .......... thus that is why the paint job is out standing.. with oil streak, little effect of paint chip - enough to give it a really nice weather look... if i did not know it was 1 18 i though it was a 1/32 model that some one just finish it is that good... there other part of the plane i want to mention but i have to ask Merit if it ok. Other wise...time to save.. and get a really nice display stand...if you look at the cowling there is a little scoop at the bottom.. look into the scoop you can even see the filter ... sweet .. i love those little detail... when a model teaches you something every time you hold it.. it is spacial...

Since it seems he lives in California I'm guess he probably stopped by Legend's Toys & Hobbies where Merit also resides. I wonder if what he saw was a production model or the actual prototype (paint master). Either way I can't wait to see this model replica in person myself. Hopefully they get these shipped out by June. :D

BADCAT just sent an email indicating the preorders are to arrive near the 15th of June and sent out quickly there after. Finally something exciting coming to our 1/18 scale world this year.

They said:

Hello Everyone!

Many of your have been waiting eagerly but patiently for the 1:18 Corral Sea SBD Dauntless to arrive. This piece, which was originally designed as a built-up, glue together model was instead offered as a Prebuilt. This has given the piece extra details that collectors are going to love but all the extra pieces have given the factory workers fits. All the extra parts has led to much longer production times. The best news is that production has concluded and the soldout Preorder is due to arrive on about the 15th of June. We will be charging and prepping ship tags a couple of days advance and we'll send our own truck to pickup these much-coveted which means super-fast turn-around.

I hope this doesn't mean we're going to see a lot of glue smears, and mistakes in the assemble process. Crossing my fingers. This is probably the reason for the increase in price for the Midway version.
Least we get a date now and I can make sure the money is there for the charge.

Just saw that I got my FEDEX order numbers as well. Since BadCat is not very far from where I live, I may be the first to get one of these

This will have been a great week for 1:18 aircraft - Pickelhaube's Horten 229 and then the Merit Dauntless 8)

Got my tracking number from Badcats. When I ran it in FedEx it said that it was not there. Badcats order tracker said it will ship in 2-3 days. I was hoping to have it by the weekend.
