For those who lives in the Chicago area, Merit will be at the iHobby Show at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL on this Saturday and Sunday (Oct 22 and Oct 23).

http://www.ihobbyexpo.com/PublicInfo.htm

Be at the show and be the first to learn of the surprise announcement of a all NEW tooling 1/18 air plane by Merit !!

We will also be showing our 1/16 T34/85 and a 1/16 Tiger I pre-built models along with some other neat stuff in smaller scale.

Please check us out at booth 2620. Sorry for the short notice and we hope to see you there.

Jim

This sounds very intriguing!

Not sure what to think, or hope for.

At this stage, any 1/18 release is welcome. But a "new plane" hopefully means something other than a repaint of a previous release.

If I had to bet, I'd say it was the S27/J11.

You know what? I have always been more interested in WW2 planes. I have never rally been interested in armor until the last few years.

Now I am shifting into liking armor a tad more.

I have also never been a Sherman fan. 2 years ago I could not tell the difference in a M-4 Sherman and a M4A1 Sherman. Now I make them.

But I do know one thing making aircraft is about 3 times harder than making a tank.

Taking 2 1/2 months to make one prototype compared to 3 weeks is night and day.

Depending on how well my aircraft project takes off will depend it another one gets made.

Sorry about getting off of topic.

Come on Me-163 .

Jim be a hero , please give us those pics when you can.

If it's a new tooling, wouldn't it be a Russian jet we've already seen pics for?

Thinking about it, an American jet or plane would be a better and more marketable choice, since that's who they sell to mostly.

If it's modern it should be an A-10, if it's WWII it should be a P-51B/C to take advantage of the Redtails buzz, whilst someone else like BBI or Allgo re-issues the P-51D.

What meesa talking about, nobody listens to an armchair amateur marketing consultant.

Maybe they'll surprise us with a curve ball. Though if it's a Pegasus release then the ME-163 would be good.

When do they usually make these announcements, first or second day of the event?

You can do a search on ihobby 2011 and get some results from other hobbys, like models, rc and trains, but nothing on what we want yet.

it'll probably be announced tomorrow afternoon. I wouldn't get too excited, it may not be anything great.
