Maybe they will make some Tomcat pilots that will actually fit in the cockpit without modification!

Why make pilots for an F-16 model that already comes with a pilot....but not make a pilot for an F-14 that doesn't come with a pilot?

Sounds like FE-FORM HOBBIES is a subsidiary of JSI.

Excellent development! Given how few "complete" new products we can expect to see in the future, this kind of "detail kit" could be a very good thing. It keeps interest in the hobby alive because it gives folks like me who like to keep "fiddling" with their models something rewarding to do.

Other ideas:
  • Weapons sets
    Ground support equipment
    Version mods (a la FW-190 D-to-A conversions)

i gather they made this because the f-16 is over scale, and regular 1/18 pilot figures look too small in the cockpit, so this pilot figure will be closer to 1/16 than 1/18.

All i did was put a chap mei pilot head on a regular 1/18 pilot's body. The head is oversized and makes the whole figure look bigger in the cockpit.

I looked it up and the F-16 pilot's seat is inclined at 30 degrees, whereas most pilot seats are at 13 degrees. Supposedly, the incline was to help with G forces, but doesn't do much, but it is very comfortable. The principle reason for the incline was so it would fit in the cockpit better.

ROHIRRIRMKNIGHT:

My guess is the JSI F-14 pilots and ground crew are like the F-15 and SU-27.

Thank you for the update! I see you're a fairly new member here...Please don't be discouraged by the negative comments from some of the members - So many times we've heard rumors of wonderful new models that simply never materialize - Guess it's hard not to become jaded. Anyway, everyone's updates are welcome & appreciated!

To clarify my comments, I'm not criticizing Fe-Form on its F-16 plot and ejection seat---I thought the  underscored my comment was tongue-in-cheek. In fact, Fe-Form's F-16 pilot and ejection seat look extremely impressive.

My serious comments are reserved for the situation regarding the pilots for the JSI F-14. At least four companies and/or individuals have stated they will produce pilots for the JSI F-14. Only one, Skyworks, has actually released the pilots for purchase....and the present status of Skyworks is unknown since they haven't replied to email inquiries since April according to other members. Badcat is also unsure of Skyworks' status.

I'm hoping that Fe-Form will consider releasing pilots (hopefully pre-painted) for the JSI F-14 because there is a market for them and, as of right now, no one has any F-14 pilots available.

The BBI F-16 is overscale, but the 1/18 pilot just fit in, only a few millimeters between head and canopy. Even with a 30 degrees leaning seat (to better stand high G in air combat... not a comfort question). Will this new custom allow the canopy to close?

Super interesting ! i will use my former F16 pilot as a P51 race driver !

I really hope that this new pilot is a little bigger to match perfectly the plane scale.

Well done

The color sample of F-16 pilot and ejection seat will be posted early next week.

BTW, the next release will be "ERIC HARTMANN" pilot figure and metal landing gears for upcoming Blue Box / bbi Eric's Bf-109.

Consider request "thirded" if that's a term.

The pilot situation for the JSI F-14 appears to be an great market for anyone who wants to develop pilot figures for the F-14.

As I said earlier, there were four candidates that were going to release F-14 pilots and only one actually did---and that company is no longer in business. So now, there are none.

If someone wants to release F-14 pilots (hopefully, prepainted), there are a lot of us who will buy them.

I think Fe-Form will consider Navy Pilot when bbi re-release their F18 Hornet.

STM6:

Thanks for the reply.

I assume BBI will release a repaint F/A-18 sometime......but there are a lot of us with no-pilot JSI F-14s now. As I said before, if someone has F-14 pilots to sell, there a lot of buyers for them.
