1/18 FW-190a conversion kits

Post by Jnewboy » Tue Jun 21, 2011 5:51 pm

I have one from Skyworks Toys but lately have been reluctant on making it because I dont think I will ever be able to get another. If Skyworks toys is truly out of business who will make these things. Pickel??

I wish something would happen. I obtained a 1/18 Fw190 frame from a board member, specifically for converting to an "A" model. I contacted skyworks regarding conversion parts but didn't receive a reply. So ah....Pickel, how bout it? (Like Matthew doesn't have enough on his plate!)

I will have you know that I and the Hun did the first 190 short nose conversion . We made a one of a kind back before the storm

I have all intentions of making a short nose conversion. In time.

You are right, right now I have plenty plenty on my plate.

That is good to hear PH.

A FW190A would be great to have, although not sure if I am willing to pay the price for the conversion, and painting etc.

Love the FW's, but not willing to spend a ton, just to get an A in 1/18.

Same here. I would like to see an A with some extra details like new struts.

I think flyboy was referring to the landing gear. Struts are a commonly used term in the rc world for landing gear parts and I have seen flyboy post a few of his rc planes here. I have a set of Robart RoboStruts for my 1/8 scale Top Flite P-47 shown here http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... LXES65&P=M for comparison. I may be wrong but it made sense to me.

If I were to make the mod kit ( when ? ) I would do the cowling and proper prop.

The rest of the modification would be up to the modeler.

Who cares what Skyworks does, In or out of business, they don't have the market cornered on the FW A, I have been telling Pickel for yrs this needs to be done, There could be a better kit and maybe cheaper, Like he said we done this way back in the day before skyworks ever started.

I agree, I have one of their kits but Jack actually said to me in an email "most people don't even know the prop and hub is different" I thought WTF, I do! The Dora prop and hub look ridiculous on it. I have not opened it in awhile but I think it did come with the right rudder.

I have a couple Doras that I was keeping for customs (paint or conversions to As). I never did get the short nose from Skyworks, but I would be interested in one or two.
