SkyWorksToys Special Announcement

Post by tom@skyworkstoys » Sun Apr 10, 2011 9:03 pm

SkyWorksToys has begun an extremely large industrial project recently, and do to this, our response time for questions, and orders will be a little slower than usual.

In order to help clear out some of our stock, we have some deep discounted prices on a number of out kits, which include the Tony, Hurricane, Kommit, P-40, and Spitfire. These special prices are for unbuilt kits only. Please contact us for these special prices.

We are still filling orders for our F-14 pilots, landing gear, and nozzles, but due to the project we are working on, we may be a little slower in shipping these. We have some 2nd, and 3rd generation pilots if anyone is interested in them. Contact us for some deep discount prices!

Hopefully everyone understands our situation, and we will try as hard as we can to get your orders filled, or questions answered as soon as we can.

PS: Jack is still hard at work on the A-10, and Typhoon project!

I looked on the Skyworks website and didn't see any mention of this -- maybe I missed it. How can we find out prices?

I sent Skyworks an email asking about the sale prices of their kits but haven't received a reply. Has anyone else sent them an email?

I asked about the Komet and if they still make the Fw conv kit, and got nothing.

They must be to busy jacking those prices down....

Can you send me a price list. I'm thinking of the Komet, but may be interested in some other items.

I sent a question regarding the availability of the Tomcat pilots and if the special announcement applied to them. Jack sent me a return email stating that they are presently working on a big Tomcat pilot order for the MTS and Badcat. He did not confirm that the special announcement applied to the pilots, but he did confirm that they had unpainted pilots in stock.

Has Skyworks gone under?

Their F-14 pilots are still on backorder at Badcat, and they haven't replied to emails since April.

The last time I spoke with BadCat regarding the backorder they have on the Skyworks GE F-14 nozzles, Rob mentioned that Skyworks is a 3 man operation and from our conversation, they have a person resource shortage due to some medical and/or physical ailments/injuries on some persons. Hence their delays. Rob mentioned that they have acknowledged their backorders and have a goal to fulfill orders, but no specifics on when.
That’s second hand knowledge I have received and that was all.

I emailed them ages ago as well regarding the prices on Fw190 parts, but have received no response.
Also, I had earlier ordered some pilots from them which failed to turn up. They were slow with response emails after the fact but they did send replacement pilots which did arrive.
I'm not sure what is happening over there, but they might want to consider taking more note of the "customer relations" side of the business. It's a pity because they have some pretty cool products.

I don't know anything about Skyworks in particular, but I can easily imagine how a shoestring home business can get derailed by the kinds of personal things (health, family, "real" work, etc.) that wouldn't interrupt a more "established, better capitalized enterprise. It's easy to forget in the internet age that a good-looking website doesn't mean that you're dealing with what may amount to a spare-time undertaking. Unfortunately, with this interest group, we're dealing with situations like this, since we're out on the fringe of a fringe in terms of what the market will supply ...

Greetings:

I have had a Hurricane on order from them for over a year. Even sent a $100 down payment on it when I first ordered it. I had heard it was about finished about 6 months ago and I asked where I should send payment and what the final total was. Have not heard anything since that time from them even though I have emailed them several times. Sucks too as the Hurricane and Dauntless are my favorites from World War II and was really looking forward to the Hurricane.

At least I didn't pay the full amount and lose all that money.

Corey

That is not good, Corey.

Even so, sounds like you are out $100.

Not answering emails for months is no way to do business. But it does sound like they are no longer in business, so that takes care of that.

Probably not worth pursuing them for the $100 deposit.
