I'm in California on vacation with my family so I don't have mine in front of me yet. My sister is house sitting so hopefully she has the package or the delivery note from FedEx for pick up.

I might need you to run a trackIng number for me pickle, or give me the number. My sister says she has not seen anything yet. Might still be on the way...

I don't know about the others, but mine was sent USPS (either priority or parcel, don't remember which) and they didn't leave it on my porch when I wasn't home. TKO, you may want to ask your sister if she's received a missed delivery slip from the post office in your mail.

Arrived home tonight from my trip to find my Pickel Horten! I have unpacked and inspected all parts, called Matthew to say thanks and to get a couple helpful hints on final assembly! Tomorrow I will begin to glue a couple parts on and then it's onto paint! I am really excited about this plane and can't think of a better way to spend part of Fathers Day, putting the beautiful 229 into color. I will post pics when it is finished!

It is an instant classic! If I had missed out on this I would have offered some outrageous price to someone who purchased a full build.

I am glad you like TKO :D

So far on the S-2 I have only one commitment. That is from a guy off of the board .

So far as the Horten orders go , I have :

1 x Kit
1 x S-1 Splinter and 1 x S-2 DAK camo
1 x S-1 Splinter ( e-bay sell )

That is 4 more I have to make / kit.

I will do the S-2 DAK even if it is just to do that one. Is there any more interest at this time ?

I know that this is painful but from now on I am asking the FULL PRICE for the full builds $750 plus shipping.

After messing around with my Ho 229, I do believe I will be interested in an S2. This time around I think I will have you paint it for me as well. I like that DAK smoke ring bird.

I might also be interested in a second plane but in finished / primer only...

In time I intend to.

It will also have a modified front landing gear along with an extended canopy.

Well Guys,

It looks like the original Horten Project is a wrap. Everybody has theirs except for late orders and a couple of out of country guys.

Hopefully in a week or so they will have theirs intact. It looks like of all the full builds that went out only one took a hit. Only minor damage thank goodness ( the flaps on one side popped off ) that should be an easy fix.

Thank you all who participated. It was a long build having a few highs and lows along the way. It was a full time consuming project that over shadowed everything else.

I had a few other orders that came in and I took on. I had to ,bring in money as the Horten progressed. These guys were very patient and hung in. Some still are

To those guys thank you very much. Although they did not pressure me I know that somebody pays for something they want it in a timely manner.

The Horten project did not allow that.

When I started this project I was wide eyed and ready to go. I thought that I could push out a project in a small amount of time for a sizeable profit.

I WAS WRONG !! The more work I did , the more details that I had to build into the model became apparent.

Jack at Skyjerks was the only other customizer building full aircraft builds at the time. I thought his prices were sky high. This while having no full builds of my own.

It became apparent very soon to me after I had started the full builds. Each full build took about 40-50 hours to complete. At $100 for over a weeks worth of work I totally lost my azz.

With no money coming in for over a 2 months things got desperate. I had to take on orders just to pay SOME of my bills. Other bills did not get paid. The phone did not ring as far as my " real job " was concerned.
But I did the right thing hung in there and finished. Rather than some other guy who just dropped out of sight while taking other peoples money.

This project started out with me taking deposits. There was no other way that I could have started it.

This was a first for me to do this and it was a big leap of faith for you guys to anti up.

It looks like I did not let you guys down and everybody seems to be happy with their Hortens.

As far as me doing another aircraft , I am not sure that I will this one almost bankrupted me leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

But now all the development is done moulds are made and guys are ordering Hortens at their realistic price point.

Their does seem to be a lot of interest off of the board for an S-2 version and it will become a reality . IN TIME

I do need to get caught up on current past due orders. I have already been paid for them.

It seems like I am caught in a cycle and cannot get caught up.

That is why i am pushing the Sdkfz 251 covers. the prototypes are fairly easy to make and the covers are coming out fast and clean !!

Hopefully I will sell many of them so I can continue making more XD.

It is fun making the misc subjects but as far as a money maker they just do not do it.

But with my regular job in the crapper it is the only thing that I have.

So guys the more sells that I make the more different projects I will do.

Thank you all for the support and I am glad you like your Hortens.

Matthew

A well spoken, and heartfelt post, Matthew.

And it does show your honesty, and integrity, when you fulfilled your obligation to these deposits, even though it became clear that you had probably under priced the project.

I don't have mine yet, but should probably arrive this week. :D

You should be very proud for doing this extraordinary project, and think over time you will look back on this much more positively.

Thanks guys.

Snake why does it take so long for you guys to get your models ?

I remember shipping something to you or either HardenSteel and it took 2-3 weeks and I sent the same size package and contents to Japan. On the same day , and it took 3 days to get to Japan !!!

Here is the Horten in Finland !! :D :D :D

It dwarfs it's stable mates !!

Not sure PH.

Think it is Customs.

Two weeks is about the norm, and I am only 20 miles from the US border.

You get used to it.

Snake did you get your Horten yet ?

I can not remember if we had talked or not if you got it.

Old age is definitely sneaking up on me.

Hey you guys how are your Hortens holding up ? Any wing sag ?

I hope you are keeping them out of direct sunlight.

My 229's are fine. There are no problems with the wings or landing gear.
Thanks for the replacement clear canopy I screwed up, as soon as I get
time I'll post some pics.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago, Matthew, and pm'ed you when it arrived.

Great job!, and very happy with mine. :D

Good advice about the sun, but you should do that with any model, as they fade, or worse.

Glad to have got one of only 23 of these very rare, and well done PH customs. 8)

I think its holding up pretty well. Collecting a bit of dust because I don't move it very often, but that's an easy fix. I don't know that I've noticed any significant wing sag and that is something I monitor. They still look OK and the gaps have not really widened as I would expect them to, should the wings start sagging. Landing gear are holding up fine as well, with no bending.

My plane sits in the same place where it was when I took this photo a few weeks ago: by a window that is unfortunately on a sunny side of the house during the morning hours. However, there are trees, bushes, and blinds in front of the window, so its never in direct sunlight. There currently isn't any better place to put it besides hanging and my airspace is full.

The Horten looks great beside the Me 262, Tman. 8)

Couple of very advanced Luftwaffe jets.

Again, I feel very privileged to own one of Matthews extremely rare, and very well done Hortens.
