Can you tell us what is the total production run on these?

Kits?

Full builds?

A very limited release to be sure. 8)

I sent out 10 kits.

10 full builds 2 of them in primer paint only.

I need to make 3 more kits after the full builds.

A total of 23.

I do not even have one. But I have the prototype.

So there will be only 23 1/18th scale Ho 229's on the planet. :D

Thanks for posting the pics, Pickel!

I am amazed - the plane looks absolutely fantastic, with the perfect color scheme for the Horten!! Couldn't ask for better and I'm glad you're painting it and not me

Very glad I ordered one of these pre-built and from the look of things, it should be well worth the wait 8)

If it was 21c doing this, your perfect scheme would have been the S3 version and the company would have folded before it was released :P

Dude, you need to build and paint a few for yourself to sell on Evilbay or elsewhere. I'm sure there are people out on the interwebs (in addition to here) who would just love to throw large sums of money at you for those planes.

Wow! Even the weathering and exhaust stains. Far better than I could ever have done with the kit. Truly a masterpiece. Hoping they all come out looking as good and I'm sure they will

Thanks for the kudos guys .

They all look the same.

I made templates for everything.

Even the camo pattern. I traced the template I made on frisket paper and made each one the same.

As far as the exhaust goes I made a template for that. I made it about 1/8th of an inch smaller than the exhaust wells. That way when I sprayed it , it had a feather edge rather than a sharp. Making it a little more realistic.

I used an airbrush about 20 years ago. It was a Pacshe single action and I got pretty handy at it . BUT THAT WAS 20 YEARS AGO

I could not find the Pasche so I had to get a new one. :(

It did not take me long to get the hang of it.

All the hard edge camo patterns came out nice with no build up paint ridges.

I had to ask a few buddies about the PSI and what tips to use.

After the training wheels came off I was laying down some paint.

Oh man!!!! More beautiful than I would have ever imagined!

How are you shipping them? Will we get a tracking #?

I am a complete klutz. How hard to attach the little fiddly parts?

Can't wait to see your masterpiece in person!

I do not use track numbers normally.
I usually do insurance with delivery conformation.

You will need a tiny tube of super glue to fasten the misc. parts.

Here is the wrap up pics.

Tomorrow the Hortens will head out to their new homes :D :D :D

Looks absolutely fantastic, Matthew.

You should be very proud of this. :D

I have posted your pics on some other smaller scale forums, as I think others would be equally impressed with what you have accomplished.

I can't wait to get the mighty 229! Really good work. It's hard to believe that this was once a Roto mold that was flying through your yard! The time, effort, skill, and scale of this project is mind blowing! Everyone who got one got ONE HECK of a GREAT DEAL!

Thanks guys. A lot of work sure did go into this thing and I am pretty sure you guys are going to like the full builds.

There are a few thing that you should be aware of when you get your Hortens.

1. If you want to open your canopies you will have to back off the screw just a bit.

2. Wing fit . Some slide right in easy easy. Some are VERY SNUG. The wings have been put on and removed several time so they fit. The easy on wings may have to use a little poster putty on the wing saddle to keep them in place.

3. Wing spare. The wing spare goes in at an angle. so when removing the wing pull in direction of the wing tip. If you pull the wings off strait you could bend the wing spare. Then you will have big problems.

4. Do not allow your Horten to sit in the sun or directly in front of a window. BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN.

5. Storage. If you put your Horten up in the attic the heat will kill it. If you put it in the attic you might as well throw it away. STORE IN A AIRCONDITIONED ROOM WITH WINGS HANGING FROM THE SPARES.

6. DO NOT LET ANYTHING REST ON TOP OF THE CANOPY . AFTER TIME IT WILL BECOME CRUSHED.

That is about it. Sing out when you get them.

Some of you may get them as early as Wednesday !!!

Looking forward to getting mine, Matthew.

Should be about two weeks to Canada.

Sound advice about the model, that bears reinforcing.
