Hey Pickel-

I'm down for one of these bad boys! Question: You know I am going to enjoy painting mine so I'm inclined to want to go the Kit route however I really don't want to build it... Is the Kit complicated and going to require lots of filling, sanding, gluing etc? If so, is it logical to request it built, but un-painted? Your thoughts?

TKO, I'm looking forward to seeing your Horten 229 all painted. You do some great work!
I've built a few of Pickels kits and they're not complicated nor is there much filling or sanding.
I've said this before, my only problem with his kits is choosing a paint scheme.

Hey Guys,

I think that this may be one of the easiest kits I have made. The whole thing will go together very easy.( I hope ) You will have the usual fill issues as with all resin kits.

I will be glad to build it for you we can talk about it.

I would say that the 222 would probably be my most difficult build. The moulds are shot for that kit and I need to make new ones. On the new 222 kit I will make locating tabs in the body so it will be easier to join.

Really? It was a challenge for sure! I mean, getting those two halves of the body sanded so that they at least somewhat matched and then glued, and then filled and sanded, and filled some more... Since I built mine, that model has sat out on permanent display on a shelf and one would never know all the work that went into it :P

Will you take paypal for the payment on the Horten? I don't think I can hold off any longer... Sending a PM.

The 222 was my first build. The master body went together with ease. But the copies were a little less forgiving. I did not make any locating pins for the body but as I said the original master will get locating pins.

As far as the Ho-229 goes the only thing that may be tricky will be the landing gear . There are a bunch of little fiddly parts that go together. The only other thing will be the cockpit but the way I designed it , it will go together with almost no glue and it it secured to the main section with screws so it will be adjustable.

Heck the only things that will need to be glued will be

Flaps/ ailerons
front wind shield
canopy to frame
engine nacelle parts
landing gear door hinges
bottom tail feather
main landing gear bay
pitot tube
cannons
top / bottom radar

I think that is it :D

The landing gear and wingsshould pop/slide in place.

Paypal is fine about 99% of guys have paid that way.

Matthew,

I am just waiting on pics of the actual completed model, before I pull the trigger and buy a completed kit.

If it costs me an extra $50, so be it.

At what stage will you no longer be able to fill orders on this fantastic Horten that you have created?

I do understand that at some point the "production run" will end.

Thanks.

OK Snake.

I will always be able to fill orders except will I am in the middle of production on a project.

When I am filling orders it is a lot easier to do more of the same.

After production is over THAT is when it takes forever to fill orders.

I have guys waiting for be to do the Indy sidecars and M-10 for a long long time since the Horten is in the works . Also with my " real job " in full swing XD sadly has to take a back seat which makes filling orders that more slower.
