Re: 1/18 Ho-229 Build is Done !!!!! Finished Pics 10-13

Post by pickelhaube » Mon Oct 17, 2011 7:15 am

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all of the kudos. And thank you all who have paid in full.

I am hoping to start the mould making this week ( I hope to ) I have put my order in for the RTV and resin . It is over $1,000 so far.

These next couple of weeks I will be busy with my real job and the RTV is not here yet so NOW will be a good time to start the pre-order dead line.

I will make the dead line for Oct 31. Halloween.

That is for you you guys WHO PAY IN FULL for the $300 kit and $400 full build.

After the dead line there will be a price increase of $50 for the kit and full build.

Thanks again to all of you who have supported me on this extensive project.

I see you've been posting on Missing Lynx as well there Matt. I hope some of those 1/72-1/35 scale guys have a taste for some excellent 1/18 scale stuff and you get a few more customers. Glad to see this project finally wrapped up. Good luck filling all the orders I'm sure you'll get :)

Dude,

Those guys could care less. 1/18 is looked down upon almost every scale board there is.

There is a lot more comment made about somebody running wires on their 1/35 engines than a full blown1/18 scratch build tank.

I was laughing when I posted because I knew that their would not be interest.

But I was wrong there was more comments on the bricks that the models were sitting on than the models themselves .

Yes XD fans WE ARE THE STEP CHILD IN THE MODELING WORLD.

I feel for you. My work in 1/32 goes almost unnoticed. The only 1/32 scale the modelling community seems to notice are aircraft. No one could give two cruds about my 1/32 armor ventures, and every time I go to my local hobby shop for lessons in various things (figure painting, airbrush techniques etc), and I mention that I do 1/32 scale armor they look at me crosseyed.

Anyway, we definitely appreciate your venture in one of our favorite "bastard" scales. And who knows, maybe they won't openly admit it, but you never know if some of those guys viewing your post aren't thinking that they really would like to do something in that scale. Odd scales can win prizes at shows, and your pieces definitely have the potential to get some awards if in the right hands.

There are a few guys who post 1/18 stuff on http://www.largescaleplanes.com. Some amazing work, and I think some of the guys there also post on this forum. On LSP, the smallest fixed-wing stuff is 1/32 (helos go *all* the way down to 1/35).

I imagine you might find some interest there, Matthew.

Cheers.

I was not really trying to garnish any interest.
Just trying to get some recognition.

Apparently it was not to happen.

Thanks!

OK Guys,

Jackson has come through with the decals and I picked up the RTV and resin.

Now all I have to do is fine tune everything and the mould making will start. :D

Almost everyone who have submitted their $50 down payment , have paid in full.

Except shipping ( some have paid that as well ).

Next Tuesday I will give a list of the people who have paid and how much they have paid.

IF SOME OF YOU WANT TO REMAIN ANONOMUS PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I WILL NOT POST YOUR NAME.

Or maybe I should not post any of you guys name.

LET ME KNOW ON THIS AS WELL .

SHOULD THIS INFO BE PRIVATE ?

This was kind of a forum build so that is why I am doing this and to make sure we are all on the same page as far as payment goes.

Sometimes in the past I did not record a payment or two and that was a big mess.

If we give you a fifty dollar down payment now, does that lock us in for the lower rate?

I don't mind if you show my payment status here if it makes it easier to track orders.

Hmmm Well.

The idea was to have everybody who have paid already to get up to date.

Kind of like an award for paying early as so many have. I thank you all who have done that.

The price point of $300 for the kit and $400 for the full build is I think very low.

Custom paint jobs for a stock airplane are selling for $300 .

You have been a repeat customer so maybe we can work something out.

Pickel, I can't wait. This is may favorite aircraft of all time and I'm almost finished with the new workshop.
Your Horten 229 will be the first build in it. I know I won't misplace any parts, it'll be to clean in there. :P
Well I keep looking at the prototype pics and all I can say is just fantastic!

Well I just read the comments on your models on Missing-lynx...what a bunch of knuckle draggers.

apart from a couple of remarks, the best they can come up with is sarcastic comments regarding where you photographed the model rather than anything about the models themselves, bearing in mind you posted in the 'CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENTS' discussion group.

Your stuff looks fantastic, and they just can't acknowledge the workmanship. Love to see any of them build a T34 from the ground up...actually no, I wouldn't!

All the best pickelhaube
Sam
