Why are these two F-86's so special? I got the latest Historic Aviation that has Mig Mad Marine listed for sale along with the NKA Mig-15.

Wow, I wonder whose it is. Neat piece of 21c history. Way too expensive for a p-51d. but for those who know the history and look for unique pieces, this one sure fits the bill.

Eh, nevermind. It was Mitch's Squitch. But Historic Aviation does still have them in their catalog and online.

Mig Mad Mavis was going to be one of the follow up releases. I didn't realize they got as far as having a prototype proof made. Awesome score!

Still amazes me how much folks are willing to pay for a toy. Wish I had that kind of spare change in my pocket.

Agreed.

The first time I remember the Huff was visiting my father in Florida in 1981 when I was six years old when he had built a 1/48 Hasagawa F-86. Flash forward to the Time-Life books of the early 1980's and the volume "Fighting Jets" with the artwork of Thompson's Huff.

To me, the Huff made the Sabre as popular as it is today.

$550 is still a lot of money for a 1/18 P-51.

Especially as it is a repaint from an existing mold.

Same applies to the desert Me 109.

But hey, if you can afford it.

Ability to afford is one thing - I can very easily convince myself that the requirement is real, and the spend is justified.

However, when I conduct a risk analysis of the consequences following Mrs 'Mad Sam' discovering how much I paid, I realise the stark truth is that the 'confirm bid' button will never ever be pressed.
