1/6 RC Sherman
A new RC Sherman has popped up.
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/36 ... alers.html
Scroll down past the details for more views.
Kind of pricey but it is RC, plastic, 1/6 size but weight is only 11 pounds and free shipping. Not bad looking, we have seen worse. I like it.
Can this be the year of the tank for 1/6?

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
I found a bunch of 1/30 RC Shermans there, and one Pershing called a Sherman, but no 1/6.
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?Sea ... n&CatId=26
and if you search "RC tank" you can find a bunch of 1:16 and 1:24 tanks.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
Sorry guys. The link from yesterday seems to have disappeared, but the 1/6 tank hasn't.
Try:
http://www.fuyuanrc.com/en/dept.asp?id=106
Tank comes in three versions - Early style M4, M4A3 75mm and M4A3 105mm. RC version comes in electric or gas powered. The video shows the gas powered model is too loud and way too fast to be realistic.
Pic on the assembly line -
Price is $849.99 with free shipping in the U.S.. Good price for a decent 1/6 Sherman with RC with choice of models.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
Got bad news on the price. It is $850 now with a (very loud, very fast) gas engine, and they are developing a electric powered one now, but the price is estimated to be around $12-1300 for the electric.
This info is from a guy who corresponded with the manufacturer and one interesting point is another guy suggested asking the manufacturer if they would make a "static" Sherman for alot less. My correspondent asked them today but no answer yet. I'd love a static version of what looks like a crisp detailed 1/6 Sherman. I've had two DeSimone 1/6 Shermans and both were just too rough for me to complete into a decent tank and I sold one and traded the other for a M-10 TD kit, still rough but still interesting, sitting on my "to do when I have time" shelf.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
I believe I could go for a static version, I have several 1/16 RC tanks and really I don't run them very often ( the damn cats caught on pretty quick, so its pretty hard to find something to stalk ).
The size of 1/6 is just too cool, of course alittle bit harder to hide.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
The point is that this DML Pz II is not that big. It should be around or a little longer than the length of the 21C Stuart and shorter than the Stuart. Should be a nice size.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
Well, all I have seen is your pictures of a 21C Stuart, maybe if you sent me one I could understand what size it is , of course I would send it back
I do have a 1/6 kettenkrad, its my only 1/6 scale, so that would mean that the Stuart would be just a tad larger

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
I really need some 1/6 static tanks,
Any one know where I can get some german static 1/6 panzer Ivs, Stugs, and Jagdpanthers?
I need them... Ether that or figure out how to cast 1/6 panzer track links and scratch build a tank for stopmotions.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
The point isn't where you can get 1/6 tanks. There are plenty of 1/6 tanks but the cost is what kills you.
Plastic tanks can be had for $1,000 to $3,000
Metal tanks can be had for $1,500 to $10,000
What makes this soon to be released DML Panzer II interesting is:
1 - It is made by DML.
2 - The initial price is $500
Add to that the news that this relatively unknown China company is making a 1/6 RC Sherman:
1 - The first price we heard was $850 which was reasonable for a Sherman.
2 - It was RC. The problem is that the RC is gas powered and a battery operated is still in the works but the price for that could be $1,300
The great news is that two tanks are in the works, not like the years we waited for new 21C products. 21C killed us with the waits for things they said was coming out. How long did we wait for an Avenger, I gave up twice before getting one in the etailer garage sale after 21C went kaput.
As to the Stuart scale. Here is my pic of a 21C 1/18 Sdkfz 251 in front of my DID 1/6 Sdkfz 251 which is in front of a 21C 1/6 Stuart.

That is pretty cool.
I would not mind working in that shop for a couple of days putting them together
As long as they have A / C

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
Since the pics definitely show two different models (early and later version body), more and more info turns out to be true.
Now if only they agree to make a static version, we are in business.

Very nice! But I need a Sdkfz 251 Ausf D.
I found these, http://www.fieldofarmortanks.com/
They run $500-$800.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
Well, we can only ask, but pickelhaube, may be able to build these.
I'm sure the cost would be high, but who knows, have to wait see what he says.

Re: 1/6 RC Sherman
FOA issued a SdKfz 251 kit a few years ago and it was a nightmare. Parts that didn't fit, parts that broke easily and the biggest horror of them all...... was not authentic in small areas.
So many were pre-sold that when they arrived they turned guys off FOA completely. Correcting kits were made replacing poor parts but they couldn't be sold, nobody was interested.
I'm not sure if 1/6 die hard fans have forgiven FOA.
When DID made their SdKfz 251, it was metal and completely assembled and while it had a poorly designed rear (angles were not "right"), it sold out and continues to sell with high prices when they pop up.
If this Sherman is offered in a static version for $3-400, it will sell well. Even at $850, if they match that price with a battery operated, I'll have to sell some stuff to fit it in, along side of the Pz II.
If I throw out my bed and sleep on my couch, I can get alot more 1/6 stuff in. Just hafta wait unitl the Wifey goes shopping.
