JSI spotless cat? YES its true!

Post by AMERICAN_GRENADIER » Mon Oct 04, 2010 1:33 pm

just received a delivery and i was really looking forward to openning the boxes.
I was told these planes didnt have the spots. I bought them with understanding if they did i wouild send them back. well its true no spots. the weathering is much more realistic. its actually less about weathering. it reflects more of what a bird thats been out on station for a few months. at sea we would do a quick fix and spot repairs of the paint do to exposer to the salt water. i personally did this for a week when i had been in a bit of trouble after shore leave in Thialand. one guy would sand down a row of rivets, the next guy would spray a yellow primer and the last guy would spray a gray paint. it would take a day to do one plane. the repaired areas would always look darker. and over spray would start to blacken over time when the plane was returned to the deck. i will attempt to post pics

no they're not spots, now they're squiggles. Still looks like german nightfighter camo to me.

I think JSI should make their models without weathering from now on. They just don't seem to have the knack for it.

Have to agree with Aferg.

JSI should stop attempting to weather these F-14's. They just screw it up.

Better than the spots, but still bad.

...epic FAIL.

This more than the price will keep me from buying one.

I would pay extra just to have one with NO weathering on it.

Third times a charm JSI?

JSI should hire a laid off 21C designer as a consultant.

Or, maybe TKO211 should do it.

Absolutely.

After the complaints about the weathering on the first one, this is JSI's response.

What is Chinese for "panel lines".

And people still wonder why 1/18 scale manufacturers don't give a rat's backside about blatant oversights, like leaving out the Glamorous Glennis marking in the pre-assembled, pre-painted Pegasus X-1...

KING O' FOOLS:

I once read that Chuck Yeager demands copyright bucks for using his name on models, etc. Maybe "Glamorous Glennis" has been copyrighted by Yeager, and Pegasus didn't want to pay the fee. That's strictly speculatuion on my part.

This is what happens when you farm your production out to sweatshops. JSI doesn't actually make anything themselves, they contract the work out to a factory. Same as everyone else in 1/18, 1/6, etc these days. The people in these Chinese factories don't know or care anything at all about what they are making, they're just doing a job to keep from starving. If they fail to meet their production quota, they don't get paid or they lose their job. Under those conditions, they aren't going to sit there and lovingly airbrush realistic details onto these items, they're going to do it as quickly as they can and move on to the next one.

lol, terrible. I don't think squiggles are any better than spots, both are take away from the model's look.

well the lack of a GG decal has opened the doors for the customizers. I expect they'll be all over ebay in time, for about $3 or so.

Actually, these are part of the rejects that were sitting in JSI warehouse in China.

Please read the declaration on JSI web site.

http://js-int.net/images/Solemn_Declaration_R2.pdf

The same goes with the WWII German tank commander in baby blue panzer tunic,.... those are all rejects waiting for correction.

These rejects definitely did not come from official channel via JSI or Merit into North America and should not be supported.

This is the same reason why the VF-154 has been delay because JSI had been busy dealing with the mess.

Hmmmm.....

Nobody likes a thief. But these do look better then the original.

We all fell for the bait and switch from paint master to production. When the originals came out.

So everybody got one who wanted one and most paid big money to have it corrected.

Collasping landing gear , pieces put into their boxes broken and shipped .

Who is the real thief here ?
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

I don't see any F-14 s in the stolen items list. I just purchased a squigle cat on ebay. I'm ok with the paint. The makeup pad method will be an easier fix on this one. My problem is that i had a gear broke off and bouncing around in the box. Didn't even get a chance to break it myself. Was thinking about the Skyworks gears anyway. I got some linkage breaks. Not sure if the Skyworks mains come with any of the linkage parts. Maybe this item did skip the quality control. Still didn't see it on the list of stolen items
