JSI Germans

Post by digger » Wed Sep 29, 2010 1:51 am

I see JSI did release the Series 1 21C Germans along with a tanker which is cool for people who needed a few more, though the tanker is blue (possibly correct?). Maybe this is old news?

Oddly all these years later these guys have a certain charm that was lost with all the articulation. And I have always been in favor of more joints and articulation, but seeing these again objectively makes me appreciate their scale and appearance as almost figurines instead of toys.

Yep, these will be available at SMALLJOES in less than a week. I'm actually not sure what all figures are actually in the assortment but yes I do believe there is a blue tank commander.

the well hidden articulation did make them look nice, just less possable than more conventionally articulated figures.

Over articulating just kills the look of a figure.....take a look at the mcfarlane 4 inch baseball figures and you'll see what i mean. They look bizarre.

The new gi joe figures from hasbro have struck a very good balance between appearance and articulation, i think.

I was pretty pleased when the Series 1 style was abandoned... You got more gear, crisper sculpts (IMO), better articulation obviously, removable helmets, and so on. I liked the Series 1 figures well enough, but I was very happy when the Paras came out for sure. The only figure with the old style articulation still on my shelves is the black tankers I have... And that's more out of necessity. I prefer the articulation of the action figure ultimately, since it is an "action figure" of course.

I do have some Dragon figures out though too... They're just not as cool though, to me.

I ordered two of them on ebay to see what they look like. I am hoping that their paint jobs will be different enough *and* that they have stands with peg holes.

Now that said, I too like the more recent 21c figures. The top of the line was the wave that included the guy that game with the quad gun.

WHAT is the blue uniform all about. Never seen it before. It seems like it wouldn't be worn in the field. Who has the background on this blue tanker uniform?

Jackalope........ thats a good one.
Seems like someone at JSI thought blue was a good color for their 2010 fall line....

Ok on topic, to the best of my knowledge there was Never a blue Panzer uniform! Seems like poor quality control is going to haunt JSI as it has others.

Yes, I got that email from Merit as well. However, I can assure you that neither I or the distributor I purchased them from stole anything. Indeed, it is my understanding that JSI in fact knows full well the chain of custody of these and other items. I could speculate further as to why certain statements are being made by certain parties but it wouldn't accomplish anything.

That's OK. In light of the email Merit sent out I knew it was inevitable that this would come up, only a matter of who would post first. :) I'm glad you brought it up as the issue needed to be addressed.

I guess you could always repaint the tanker figure. I think making it bright blue was a silly means of trying to disassociate it with that whole Nazi thing in world war two.

The JSI tanker and original black tanker are both the same size, though my JSI tanker does not have the cables for his headphones despite still having the lower part of the headphone assembly on his chest / jacket.

Tonight I'll post some pictures of a blue tanker vs. black tanker battling it out on a 21c Panzer IV. :)

The JSI German tanker is the original small figure. It is not the larger version that came with the Tiger tanks. The only difference is that it is in a very inaccurate royal blue uniform instead of the accurate black.

With some black paint, a fine-tipped brush, and a steady hand, it is an easy figure to repaint:

I have to say that no 21st century is my favorite ,they all have flaws.I like the more realistic shoulders on the 1st release figures, the 3rd release figures have shoulders that stick out and the arms have the tendency to fall out of the socket when i try moving them. Also the articulation is more hidden on the 1st release figures (but more limited)
Some figure can sit and fit on vehicles better than others.I have to give credit to the 3rd release figures for the articulation and the under the belt rubber tunic piece.I think any 21st century figure is ok but non seem get the balance of the 25th anniversary Joes as far articulation and sculpt goes.Perhaps the only way to get the perfect soldier will be making a custom from a 25th joe? :?:
