FOV Bravo Team is cheesing me off

Post by loadedtomcat » Sat Sep 25, 2010 10:05 am

I'm really having a problem with these new Forces of Valor Bravo Team figures. The stands that they come with can't seem to hold their weight. Every time I turn around one of them is knocked over. Anyone else having this problem?

Fellow board member Jay gave me the heads up that the FOV figs are now available at K-Mart here in New Zealand, brilliant figures they are! Anyhow, I know what you mean about the figs falling over, this is due to the bases becoming warped in the package. What you need to do is heat them up and then tape them to a flat surface, when they cool down, they will stay flat and support the figures no problem.

I like cheese---grilled.

On topic, I think they are knocking each other over when you aren't looking.

I think mine might be taking my socks, too, and my cats always look nervous when they walk into the toy room.

Yes, I've had the same problem with the FOV Bravo Team figure stands. It seems to occur on the USMC and US Army troops more than with the WWII and Special Ops figures. I think the problem stems from the fact that the peg is really too long and sometimes there is some warping of the soft plastic the stand is made from. Trimming off a millimeter or two will help with the problem and a warped stand can be fixed by soaking it in hot water, bending it flat, and letting it cool in the desired shape.

The stands that come with the FOV WWII and Special Ops figures all have shortened pegs.

Alternatively, you can use a 21c XD figure stand. I have done this with most of my FOV figures. Both the older type of XD figure stand with the long peg and the newer type with the short peg work fine.

I've had the problem as well ... but if I make the guys run, I can get their COG over the stands.

The stands warp on their own from the weight of the figure. The 21st stands are made of a rigid styrnee, and FOV's are a poly-vinyl. I've found little difference in any of them, modern or WW2, and they all tend to warp unless the figure's balanced just so on it so the weight isn't tilted one side or the other. So I tend to just avoid using these stands, which is unfortunate because they're kind of nice.

its cheaper to use the removable putty they sell for posters and things. a little bit balled up and placed under one of the feet works great. stuff will stick to most anything and is easy to roll off when its time to change the display.

the stands definetley have been an issue with me.
if the figures don't have much weight on them, they'll be fine.
but if they have a huge back pack, you can forget about it.

I cut the pegs off the stands and glued them to my display shelf.
