Stopped at a Big Lots today that had no PTE prior to Christmas but now they have the Blackhawk and Aerial Rocket Helicoptors, the IFV and a few of the small playsets with a figure and a vehicle or horse

Hmm...I wonder if that's why I found some PTE at BL. Now I'm gonna have to check out a few more BL in my area. Either the delivery truck was really late or this stuff just sat in the backroom til now

Well it's getting to be just about that time for the 3013 PTE items to start showing up at BL. I haven't had a chance to do any recons but I did a little searching online and apparently some new items showed up in New Zealand about a month ago. Over at JoeCustoms a member posted pics of an urban/snow camouflaged tracked Humvee and a woodland camouflaged Amphibian. I haven't seen these mentioned before and I checked the PTE website and they aren't pictured there either so I'm guessing that they are new for 2013. Take a look at this thread:

http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewto ... 0&start=15

A bit of additional searching turned the Humvee up for sale in this NZ shop:

Dig the amphibo car. Is that tracked version of the Humvee real? That's kind of absurd looking but looks almost realistic too... like they've at least toyed with the idea of an arctic humvee.

It'd be great if this stuff shows up. Last year for the most part, Big Lots was a bust for ANY PTE. Keepin my fingers crossed!!

Yeah they got stuff but not nearly as much as before and nothing new but those few lame cold weather sets.

I wondered the same thing! Somebody at the joecustoms discussion posted this link:

Pretty cool! Not sure the US military uses them much, but it's at least certainly possible. And that type of Humvee and a cool segment in Inception.

So certainly possible, and in arctic situations, plausible that the military would have these...

Man if I had an extra truck or Jeep, and the $, I think I'd make one for fun. Next blizzard... sure, I'll plow your driveway. How much ya got? :P

During the 03 blizzard here me and the guy next to my gf were the only ones driving around, haha. He had a hummer and I had my wrangler, and were both out without even shoveling. I went and bought us Chinese food. Somehow, they made it to work and were open. It was awesome. I whipped donuts in the middle of the street a couple times scaring the gf.

You wouldn't even have to wait for PennDOT with that tracktruck set-up. Just go.

Hey Guys. In reading a few older PTE topics, one individual shared a thought that Europe gets PTE before the US market. Do any of you believe this to be true? I've seen a few sets (ie. Military Camp Site) on Ebay from the UK. Could these merely be old stock?

I'm hoping for some re-released items this Fall/Winter but good old Big Lots has been pretty dry (save a few mutts and 12" figures) lately.

I don't know if it's consistently true... IIRC the sets found early in Europe were at small shops, no? Not like a major retailer? Big Lots is the big retailer here who carries them, and I'd imagine small retailers around the country can order anything at any point that's solicited to them... Big Lots tends to only get things in when resets for the toy aisles are done getting ready for the holidays... Those resets usually begin in August/September. Last year BL didn't seem to get any PTE till like October or November though as I recall.

I bought the Amphibian and the tracked Humvee today, there was also a new J-10 aircraft.
The back of the box also shows:
Military assault unit. Includes a damaged building.
Military defense unit.

It'd be great if you could post a picture of those plus a picture of those 2 sets on the back of the box. I checked a few Big Lots here in the Cleveland, Ohio area...nuthin on the shelves yet.

Yeah nothing here yet, though the Halloween resets are slowly starting up. Big Lots just recently, here anyway, redid their store's layout. Hope that means more toys this year than last.

And yes, please, do post pictures of that stuff! Especially the back of the boxes.

Hi All-

Looks like Big Lots may be getting a few items. Visited a store today to find some Patrol Boats (new stock), some Mutts, Humvees, and 12" figures. I'm really hoping for more. Let's keep our fingers crossed for more Fall and Winter items.

I checked Monday here, nada... Actually their Halloweenie stuff was picked over at this point too, so I have a feeling more is coming as this month ends and next month kicks into gear. I believe stuff hit last year around October November instead of September or even August like in past years.

I'm still curious what the new playset is/was? Never saw a pic.

Ditto on that. I'm looking for the old Military Campsite set as well as the old bridge set. Would love to find these.

Bridges have turned up on JC Penney's at the holidays in the past, worth purchasing for sure... The camp site, I haven't seen that in eons. THe one with the full tent. Very good set, never got it myself, and wish it (and m0ost of the rest of them) would get re-released... at this point though, yeah, honestly re-releases of 90% of what they've done would be worth it just to pick up more.

Anyone remember, or have, the old Eversparkle playset? It was modular... God I wish I had a bunch more of those!

I had that Joe set. Actually uncovered a piece of the sarcophagus years later while digging up part of my mom's yard for some gardening project.

Following Karl DAK's lead, I stopped by a local Big Lots & found most of the same new & old PTE stuff he did 8)

I got the tent and the bunk set as I've been wanting those. They're really not new...

The amphibian vehicle is interesting, but I couldn't make myself bite. Maybe will get it later as it is new & in the "realistic" style of the newer PTE items. Also can't make myself get the Mutt & trailer... Actually wanted to get the littlebird helo, but it strangely wasn't there this time around. But its not October yet, so guess there is still time
