It depends on the store really. The Nor Cal restock appears to be tied in with the Halloween seasonal switch (school supplies are being removed, ghosts and pumpkins appearing), some stores are getting a tiny space while others much more.

Has anybody seen the HQ or any fixed wing aircraft this time? Last year I was lucky enough to get a PTE F-18 post Christmas that was high up on an isle in the baby toy row of a store that tends to carry more PTE stuff (think whole aisle store). I've been hanging onto it for my nephews, but realized it is pretty cool and wouldn't mind getting another. Last year it was $30, which back in the 21c Walmart heyday would have seemed like too much, but now is perfect.

Last year, the bulk of the PTE didn't show up till later, like October or so, near me. At least the bigger stuff. I've not seen a whole aisle dedicated to PTE for a while.

I've been to a few of my local big lots and they only have pte end cap setups. On there setups they had a small selection to choose from such a the yellow and green towers, the assault boat and the beach boat, humvee, lil bird helicopter, dune buggy and assault vehicle. Along with an assortment of figures on horses and camels.
I picked up the dune buggy and a lil bird helicopter but I was really looking for a couple of those "Dauphin" looking rocket helicopters but neither of the three in my area had them :(.
I also didnot see and of the diorama sets which really sucks. Has anyone seen the Dauphin look a like? I can live without the dios for now but the helicopters I'm like feening for lol.

I've not seen that.
The SWAT checkpoint set, or at least that's what I call it includes a raising bar like the kind of thing you would see at the entrance to military base. It isn't really big, more like pedestrian sized. It is set into a dirt colored base which is pretty cool.

It also comes with a section of silver crowd control fence that you can attach to other pieces of the same. Also two traffic cones and a few signs. The figure is the black masked variety. It also comes with a really cool looking German Shepard dog. I switched my GI Joe Law & Order dog with this one as it is really well done. 8)

The stores in Calgary that used to regularly carry military action figures (Chinook & Hobby West, TRU, Wal-mart) now only sell G I Joe and Star Wars toys. Sears used to carry PTE but quit in '09 and the True Heroe stuff at TRU is laughable. They have those squished Chinooks all the way to the roof (no joke) but no PTE. I really hope that we get some PTE when our Zellers switch into Targets.

Is the Black Hawk still a common item in stores, and if so what is its retail price?

Checked the store clostest to my house today, and was pleased to see that thet had some items in stock. I saw the little bird type helicopter, attack buggy, oversized ATV, FAV, Chinese tanks, a few assorted sets of figures and accessories (but not the checkpoint set with the dog that I want), horse and rider, black rubber boat, and camel sets. There was a lone SWAT set (one figure and corner walls) so I grabbed that. Everything else I either have already or don't want. Will check the BL near my workplace this week. Many plusses and minuses to PTE, but I think in general the pieces are a great value for the price.

Checked the BL near ny workplace yesterday. Same as the store I checked last weekend, except no SWAT items at all. Guess I'll check both again in a month or so.

Great news... I posted to our Twitter Feed @JediDefender that I'd picked up the small playsets at Big Lots tonight!

The bunker (I do believe that's its intent) is AWESOME to me. The sandbagged wall/trench set-up is a little less so in that it is only detailed on one side. I've only got one of it, and haven't opened it yet, bit is still cool for display purposes.

The bunker though, outstanding. Well worth the $13 pricetag. 3 figures, a little bit o gear, the bunker (detailed on all sides though thin walls like the new bombed building), and a tri-pod spotlight. They had those and bombed 3-story buildings now as well, so there is PTE restockign going on with new stuff, and it does appear we're getting the new this year.

At least some of it.

I plan to hit up a couple BL's this weekend now if I can and see if my store didn't have everything new that's out, or if that will be it.

I'm not on Twitter, but will check out my BL tonight. This is good news as my BL's didn't have these as of last week.

I wonder how hard it would be to paint the Chinese tank a desert tan. Has anyone tried this?

Just stopped by my local Big Lots. They had the sandbag/wall and the bunker. Picked up 2 each. Not bad for $13. They also had the bombed out building, little bird, rocket helicopter which were new since the last time I went about 3 weeks ago.

Upon further inspection, the wall/trench is a waste of money. It comes in three pieces that are not connected and they don't stand up by themselves. You will need to glue a base on them or something. Seems kind of silly to make a wall that doesn't stand up? The bunker on the other hand is much better. Good place for an Afgan battle.

Agreed, though my "Wall" stands up, but barely. It's ok, not great, and nowhere near the level of great the bunker is. Bunker = buy 10.
