Found that the Big Lots store I most frequent had stocked a bunch of new items! The new sets with the bunker, sandbag/wall thing, M151 mutt with trailer, a 1:6 scale Marine with motorcycle for the new items. They had also stocked the usual 1:6 figures they've had in previous years along with the Chinese Dauphine helicopter and the large bombed out building playset. These items were added to the existing Littlebird helos, hummers, watchtowers, Type 98 tanks, RIB boats, FAV, DPVs, and figure packs that have been around for a month or so. No SWAT items.

It was fantastic to see some new items (and not have to wait a year for them) as well as some new 1:6 as well. I picked up the Bunker and wall sets as they will be great diorama pieces 8)

For those that don't use twitter, here are some pics of the new pte bunkers. I agree that the sand bunker is supposed to be some sort of trench.....would be inderesting to see what it's like if buried in the ground outside.

The other one, the concrete bunker, might make a good japanese pacific island bunker....you could cover up the right side opening with jungle type foilage to hide the fact it's open. I'd cut off the stuff along the top of the roof too and put foilage all over the rooftop and you'd end up with a nice, small little bunker to put a japanese machine gun team in.

On another note: chap mei's Soldier Force VII series is out now. Nothing but junk....no realistic looking vehicles in it this time around (previous series VI had the AAV, T-90 and Wespe)

Picked up the two bunker sets on my lunch hour yesterday. I do think they'll be useful.

The bunker could have a good many uses I think, and it's not bad as a just destroyed building too... I love it, especially at that price.

The walls may be better burried partially Aferg, but the back of them is still blah. Like the partial walls the SWAT guys come with, but worse. :(

Someone could improve them I'm sure though.

I'm hoping to nab a couple more bunkers and thanks for posting about the trailer too. I want one or two of those to convert for WW2.

Found some watch towers today...thought about taking the mark 19 out of them and putting an mg-42 in...Does anyone think it would look good if you were trying to make a diorama of a german runway for my friend franz sweiss?

i am planning on using my towers as guard towers for a german POW camp. Not quite the right style but they look pretty good. I test fit an mg34 and it looked great. If you have the one with the searchlight that's the icing on the cake.

No mutt/trailer for me this weekend. Bummer.

Also didn't see bunker/sandbag sets either at that store, but they had restocked and gotten the bombed building and some other junk. Also tons of Chinese stuff.

I picked up the 1:6 PTE motorcycle yesterday. For $20, you can't go wrong - a detailed action figure in accurate USMC woodland digital cammo, M-4 rifle, shotgun, helmet, goggles, and the bike. The bike is well detailed and painted. Certainly not as finely detailed as a Hasbro or 21c counterpart would have been (and the handlebars didn't turn) but it still looks the part of the Kawasaki KLR-650.

I know there isn't much of a following for the 1:6 PTE items around here, but really they are quite well done, certainly moreso than the PTE 1:18 figures. One gets a reasonably accurate figure, accurate weapons and accessories and for a very nice price (in the 1:6 figure world, $12 often can't even buy you a rifle...). They work for great custom fodder and starting pieces that one can build up from with better weapons and accessories.

Overall, it looks like PTE has made a good showing this year. Nice mix of the traditional items, some of the newer items (ie the Chinese stuff), and then the new building and vehicle sets. Its the best I've seen in a couple years.

And they now make a searchlight with one of the 2 new bunker sets.

I found the bunker sets last night and bought the one w/ the searchlight thinking it would have use ... and it is great.

Can someone post a photo of the searchlight?

Scratch, that - I see that Aferguson had it in one of his postings, above (thank you!).

The searchlight is indeed spiffy. Small, odd... Not really "great", but it rotates/elevates. The only way I could see it being way cooler is if they'd wired it to light up, which can be done with some relative ease using electric votif candles I think. I'm going to give it a whirl anyway if I find more bunkers and extra search lights.

Big-Lots-Lacking Members:

JCPenney.com has a good stock this year. Check out this monster set with tons of PTE win:
http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?Grp ... 2440|77800

There's some other sets on the site too, but it's a bear to navigate to find it all. Search under terms like "military", "peacekeepers", and "Power Team" and I think you'll find most of it.

oh and for Canadians: JC Penny does deliver to Canada for a reasonable price and pretty quickly.
