By the looks of this poll, there are 48 people that would. You have to keep in mind that is has constantly been pointed out to us that this board represents a very small percentage of the entire 1/18 market. So there could be very many more that would. It's probably not that unrealistic.

Greetings:

For me, it depends on a lot of things.

If the A-10 is highly detailed and of good quality, I would not mind spending a good amount of money for one. But the quality and detail has to be there. If someone had tried to charge me $100 for the S1 P-51D 21st Century made I would have said they are on drugs. That plane was not worth that money. Of course the larger planes will be harder to produce, require more materials and therefore cost more. That's to be expected.

It also depends on the amount of releases in a year. If All-Go is going to operate like in the heyday of 1/18, when a bunch of new releases were out in a year, then there is no way I will spend a big sum of money, because there would be other stuff to get. If All-Go only releases one aircraft a year or two at the most, then an expensive price becomes a little bit easier to justify.

For example, the F-14 was okay because nothing new had been out in a long time. I could pay that, even though with all the problems, I wish I hadn't. It did in the long run end up costing me more money than I wanted, mainly to fix the problems of the production piece. If that's going to be a continuing issue, I'm done with this hobby, simple as that. However if the A-10 is a high quality piece, ready to go right out of the box and is the big release of the year, then we're talking more seriously about buying it.

For now I'm just content to let things develop and spend the down time attending great airshows and taking photos and collecting a different piece now and again.

And oh, the A-10 has to be available or be able to be customized into a 111th FW A-10. But everyone already knew that ;)

i quess that depends on who makes the a-10 if skyworks produce one it would probably cost alot more if anyone else did, but it would probably be worth the money for sure. i would buy one if they did, gladly.

If any one makes an A-10 out of resin it will coat a lot no mater who makes it.

The only what it can be done cheaply is if they make steel molds and sell them in a large box store or they could find a cheaper way and have them made in India....

Much cheaper then China these day to get products made.

BTW its a hint ment for for skyworks and algo toys

Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

Birddog the way I see the poll, about 70% on this board have $300 as their price point. To have a more expensive A-10 hit the market does not reflect that all would support or purchase.
I feel 1/72 is a training scale, 1/48 ok, but 1/32 is a vast untapped market for WWII fighters , bombers , century series fighters and modern jets. While I would be more likely to support and purchase these over a expensive A-10, I hope it comes to pass that you someday get your dream bird.

What is wrong with you guys
500 bucks for a plasic plane
give me a break
spots aside the F-14 cost me 220 retail for a model not much smaller than the A10 would be
ALGO will be ALLGONE if the plane costs anymore than 275/300
sorry but for anymore I will move on to one of my other hobbies

Droptank, you misunderstood what I was stating in my post. The price point of $300 looks to be a widely accepted price from this poll. Even some that would pay enough to buy 3 at a $300 price tag. I think this is a positive sign for manufacturers. I don't see why All-Go, JSI, or whoever else might be out there couldn't put a 1/18 scale A-10 out for a price somwhere in the $250-$300 range. We've seen the F-14, a much bigger and complex subject, be brought to us at the $200 mark. I know the F-14 had issues, but I don't think we'll see those issues happen again. However, things like all metal functioning landing that could solve one of those issues s bound to have an affect on the price if included.

The fact is, the F-14 did sell well despite the issues and I don't think they were all bought by just members of this board. That means this board is just a small part of what's out there. What's out there seems to be collector's that will pay the higher price for new 1/18 scale aircraft.

I agree, realistically it should not cost more than the F-14.
Of course the F-14 was not worth it's price with it's flaws, but I might buy one now with no spots and improved landing gear.

An a-10 in 1/32 scale is definitely more friendly on the wallet and on space

but 1/18 is unique in that you can pop a pilot in there with all kinds of articulation for posing which is hard to do in 1/32. You can also do crossover with different 1/18 toylines like Joes too. For me the pilot is worth about 20% of total awesomeness.

If there are no pilots for this to keep cost down, where are we gonna find ready made pilot figs for this besides loaning from bbi jets, customs or using joes?

If its priced too high for me, its just gonna break my heart

Size of A-10

Post by tom@skyworkstoys » Sat Jul 31, 2010 8:56 pm

Guys,

Andrew is right, the A-10 model in 1/18 comes in close to 3' x 3'! I have seen the finished prototype, and it truly is a massive model, not to mention the coolest 1/18th model I have ever seen!

As for price, it has NOT been set as there are many things that have to be taken into consideration before a price is set. We are working hard to keep it as reasonable as possible.

We? as in "Skyworks pricing" we?

I got a feeling 99% of the members here are gonna priced out of this one. I hope I'm wrong.

I remember seeing the A-10 set up at 21C hq back in the day. It felt very large. It was next to an F-18 from BBI and somehow the A-10 just seemed to have more mass to it. Of course this was all pre-F-14 days... 21C set it up for me after I kept at them to make it... I think the idea was to educate me on the size and show just how large and hard it would be to make. I saw it and all I could say was... "YES- that's AWESOME. you have now convinced me that absolutely have to have one"!

My point is just simply that the A-10 was indeed one of those planes that once you see it in person in 1:18, you simply have to have one.

On a related note, I have 5 openings on my crew of bank robbers that I am putting together! The plan is to steal enough gold to buy A-10's for every member on this forum! Who's in?

Why was'nt their a $200.00 spot on the survay ?????
After all the years of wanting an A-10 !!!!! I still think it's going to be out of the price range for most of us too !!!! Any chances we'll see a 2 seater version ???? At this point in time i'd like to see them come out in 1/32 scale !!!!!! i got plenty of room for that scale !!!!!!! I would buy a full wing of every unit that fly's or flew them !!!!!!! And yes we need pilot figures with the planes !!!!!!!!!!! That is a must have !!!!!!

Hey guys,

We've been running a poll at the 118th and looks like we are in agreement. I sure hope All-Go is listening. ;)

Lets hope they are listening AND within their powers to do it, if majority 1/18 boards do agree on most ideal price

End of the day, we are all different folks and different key strokes but 100% for this hobby

Hopefully not. Since All-Go is supposedly involved in this, I'm hoping they will find a way to bring this to the collectors in the price range the majority want it to be.

If not, it is "dead in the water"

$299 would be the breaking point,I believe.

And even that is too much for me.Not that interested in the plane anyway.

At $300, 1/18 A-10 is not for me.

Lets see what the F-15 and Su 27 look like.

Probably in the upper $200 to $300 range. The Su 27 especially if it isn't going to be a widespread US release.

I hope you are right. Although I want an A-10 in major way, I'd have a hard time justifying the purchase in my mind for more than 300-400 dollars. :-(
